Arthur

Or maybe Arthur steps up, gets fitter and develops his game as he looks the exact same type of player for Brazil. Which to be fair they need that player more than Barca so fits them better.

Unlikely he drastically upgrades his range of passing etc but just being more positive when opportunity arises would be a start.

Arthur plays versus Liverpool and we don't lose 4-0. We need players like him, esp. away from Camp Nou.

Well said. We would need new offense to fix the midfield. Even prime Xavi wouldn't find passes to standing players.

Xavi would be in a different league to Arthur in this Barca side and that includes passing ball forward and making things happen even if forward line can be improved on.

He really is nothing like prime Xavi in anyway other than being top class when pressed on ball that is where it ends unless he starts to devleop he will just be that deep lying recylce possession type.

Probaly what Sarri wants him to be as their Jorghinho.

I agree Arthur would have been better v Liverpool as they pressed like fuck and he is better than Rakitic.

He also would have been absolutely fucked after 60 mins in intensity of that game but he should have started.

Selling arthur would be like like selling xavi in ronaldinho era. Total bullshit, build that fucking team around arthur and de jong and you have a heavyweight contender for next 5-7 years. Add to that some quality fullbacks and wingers and you have a monster

It would be nowhere near that.

Not advocating selling Arthur as he is a good player but Xavi back then even was miles ahead of him as a player.

Yes, like everybody back then knew what xavi would be like 5 years later. Deco, ronaldinho, edmilson were all 'better' players back then according to sport journalists. Im not saying arthur is new xavi or something similar in quality but selling him is something im quite sure we would regret. So, thats complete bullshit

Who said 'everyone knew what Xavi would be'?

Xavi was different class back then to what Arthur is now and he was a little athlete on top of that.

What are you comparing him to Ronaldinho for?

Source for Sport claiming Edmilson was a 'better player'?

Watched him week in week out and he was top top class even at a time where more big, athletic, physical midfielders were the fashion.

I agree with this, I've often times heard from people that Xavi only became good in 2008 but he was an incredible player even back in 2003. I remember him dominating the game for Spain against England for example at the Bernabeu where he played exactly the same in that match as he did under Guardiola. The truth is people thought you needed the stature of a Gerrard(although an amazing midfielder in his own right) to be considered top class back then.

I do not believe we will trade Arthur for a 30 year old Pjanic

There are few members who got pissed off from the rumors recently surrounding our team, but this one is a real BS. Total nonsense.
Why would you swap a 23 y.o. promising player for 30 y.o. already washed up veteran who can not keep his place in a lesser team?

There is a possibility of arthur becoming influential part of the team in future.
I mentioned deco, ronaldinho, edmilson as they all were more popular then xavi back then.

Even back in 2003, when he was 23 years old like arthur is now. Arthur has a quite good performances by now in his career.
All im saying we arent getting new xavi anytime sooner, but we could have arthur in prime in next couple of years with frenkie.
Fuck me, you could see greatness only by watching the names of two.
