It isn't having it both ways. In La Liga his individual effort is enough to carry this team on his back. When it comes to Europe and things go wrong, it's because he can't do enough on his own against the more formidable adversity. Could he have done better in those circumstances? Sure, but you can only go so far asking one guy to overcome every massive obstacle when it comes to playing the best teams in Europe.

He is best player but Barca dont win La Liga without other world class performers in the team and those that play in way to give him platform.

That same Barca without Messi has gone to Bernabeu and won 3-0 and 4-0 in those years also.

No it hasnt.

Neymar, Suarez, Busquets, Pique, Alba, Alves MATS have all been world class at time in last few years.

It is not about Messi just deciding to drag an mediocre team to success at all. He cant do that no player can.

14/15 and 15/16 were great seasons from the team as a whole. But that was 4 years ago, a long time.

16/17 we were abysmal outside of MSN, with Lucho having to resort to desperately trying to force the likes of Gomes/Arda into midfield as Rakitic became worse and us having to use Roberto as a RB. 17/18 and 18/19 the squad just became worse and worse. In the EV years there was basically no major world class contributor to success other than Messi and MATS, our 2nd best outfield player basically being Alba the 1 trick pony who himself heavily relied on Messi.

Since 2017 which has been 3 years now, Messi has been doing it all basically himself with an abysmal squad next to him for the standards of a UCL contending team. Suarez has been in a shocking decline and his stats were inflated by Messi, and Alba as well was largely inflated by Messi too.

Complete nonsense to claim we have had any real plural amount of "world class contributors" to Liga winning seasons for the past 3 years.

This situation with Messi is tough to evaluate. Because the club itself has done everything to showcase Messi the most. Yes, Messi is by far our best player, and still one of the best in the world (the best on the ball if there is such a thing). But also, the team is doing a lot of things FOR Messi, and in the detriment of everyone else. Except Suarez who is basically an extension of Messi, being his best friend and such.

It is a trade off imo. It is not true to say we'd be AC Milan or United without Messi. It's just absolutely nowhere near true.

He hasnt been doing it himself.

It has been some boring football at times but Messi has still connected with Suarez and MATS has been at times bets GK in world as has Alba been best left back, Pique and Umtiti up there as best CBs at times.

No player can do it themselves without other players performing around them.

Barca have gone to Bernabeu and won 3-0 without Messi last season. The other players did perform.

For the CL failures the team and Messi have dipped too often and they should have more of them and went further.

Messi is the reason we're still considered a top 10 team in the last 3 years . Without him we would win shit. Think otherwise and you're secretly a Messi hater.
