Arthur

I don't blame him for wanting to disassociate himself right now.

He has been disrespected by the club and by Setien like no one else.

He has a contract till CL ends that he has to fulfill.

He doesn't get to command respect like he is a Messi...needs to earn that with performances. Anyway, we're not in the business of respecting players.

It’s not really much of a big deal in my opinion, don’t think he was ever gonna be picked by Setien now for however long we can remain in the Champions league.

Think Juve will come to realise quite quickly however that we got the better end of this deal.

It reflects badly on Arthur but has no sporting consequence for Barca.

True, he is legally bound by the contract.

But, we are talking about the ethical side of the issue.
And given that he was disrespected like no one else, he is not morally blameworthy.

LOL at getting disrespected like no one else. Malcom played every tenth match, and each time he got a chance he was giving his all. And yet he never complained in the media, or whined. He was always a model professional.

Arthur got more than enough chances, and you think he is disrespected. A 50kg youngster is outperforming him, if Arthur trained instead of whining how he doesn't get enough minutes, maybe he could have become an useful player.

This reflects poorly on both the board and Arthur.

Arthur needs to get his ego in check, though. Pjanic was also sold mid season and he's been a consummate professional. Meanwhile, this guy's pictured yawning on the bench.

Of all our young buys, he was the one I had the most interest in because of visual similarities to Xavi (I never thought he'd become as good, maybe half as good at best).

Turned out to be injury riddled and a poor professional on top of that.

This doesn't reflect poorly on the board at all regardless of what you thought about the deal itself.

Swap was announced for the end of the season. Pjanic is still starting for Juventus and giving it his all to help the club he is still under contract with win titles.

Meanwhile Arthur pissed and moaned about being brought off the bench by Setien after he realized his future was not here.

After that Setien got the hint and he hasn't played a minute since then.

Also told Setien he was having some "ankle pain" because he did not want to travel to the last match at Alaves. No medical report was ever published by the club about this supposed "injury."

Now this.

Good riddance to this twat. Rotten mentality with not enough talent to back it up. I hope the wanker enjoys rotting at West Ham in a few years time.

Arthur came to Barca and said it was his 'dream club' and his idol was Iniesta.

Yet in his two years here:

-Extremely inconsistent in his performances
-Frequently injured
-Benched by both Valverde and Setien
-Weight issues
-Constant off-field issues like flying out to Paris to party with Neymar, STD rumors, going skiing while injured etc...

But yet because Barca is his dream club and his idolization of Iniesta, Arthur is the victim, dawg.

Reflects poorly on the board in that a better buy could have been made relative to Pjanic for Arthur money. I'm not a proponent of an aging team.

Timing of the deal also wasn't ideal. Could have held off till CL ends to announce it. Because as it stands, we lost even a rotation player in the event of injuries. Yes, that's mostly Arthur's fault in not being a professional but the board could have better foresight.

Your points about his attitude, I already made and agree with...

Juve probably won't see more than 5 m sideways passes from him.

Barca were never getting anywhere near 70m cash for Arthur from any club.

Doubt any club was coming in with even 40m for him.

Cant claim as if should have spent 60m better from Arthur sale as doesnt work like that.

There is no chance it would have been kept quiet until after CL either.

Mate, we are not talking about whether he got enough minutes or not.
He was forced out by the club against his wish, with constant leaks by the Board in the local media that he has 'agreed' with Juve months before the operation happened, when he was saying every time that he is not interested. And then with blackmailing and pressure from Abidal and Bartomeu to sign for Juve.
No one else in recent Barca history has been treated like that.

As if you have to be Xavi or Messi in stature not to be treated like rubbish.
Gosh, grow up people

And please, stop comparing to Pjanic, a player that wanted to play for Barca and his club facilitated the transfer.

There's always naive EPL clubs like United. Redcafe was fawning over this guy not long back.

Couldnt care less if it was 'against his wish' anymore than would feel sorry for Rakitic if tried to sell him 'against his wish'.

Arthur was not good enough on or off the pitch to put himself in position where was seen as important enough not to sell and that was on him.

Absolutely no chance Man Utd were going to move for a player like Arthur.

No decent EPL team would want him and certainly not for anything like 70m.

Again, just because you use 'absolutely no chance' and 'certainly not', it doesn't make it an absolute. Especially when United have a track record of spending 55 M flat/ 80 M with add-ons on Fernandes (coming in from Sporting Lisbon) and 80 M plus on Maguire (coming in from Leicester City).

A young midfielder coming from Barcelona with a contribution to a Copa America trophy is going to get 50 M at least and likely in the range of 60 to 80 M in today's market.

'not good enough' is your personal opinion.

It was not only against his wish in general, as it has happened with players many times.
He was literally blackmailed and forced out, a few days before the fiscal year ended to balance the books.

No other player has been treated like that.
