Again, just because you use 'absolutely no chance' and 'certainly not', it doesn't make it an absolute. Especially when United have a track record of spending 55 M flat/ 80 M with add-ons on Fernandes (coming in from Sporting Lisbon) and 80 M plus on Maguire (coming in from Leicester City).

A young midfielder coming from Barcelona with a contribution to a Copa America trophy is going to get 50 M at least and likely in the range of 60 to 80 M in today's market.

Yet you think Man Utd would bid for him as 'Redcafe fawned over him at one point'.

Man Utd would not bid as he is not better than they have and already struggles physically in La Liga.

Bruno Fernandes is a different player, a different class of player and someone they needed.

Has zero relevance that they paid the money for Fernandes s if they they then would for Arthur.

No he would not have got 50m or close to it and clubs did not come for him. As seen with this inflated deal to Juve.

Reflects poorly on the board in that a better buy could have been made relative to Pjanic for Arthur money. I'm not a proponent of an aging team.

Timing of the deal also wasn't ideal. Could have held off till CL ends to announce it. Because as it stands, we lost even a rotation player in the event of injuries. Yes, that's mostly Arthur's fault in not being a professional but the board could have better foresight.

Your points about his attitude, I already made and agree with...

Sure. Could have maybe gone for a younger player, but Pjanic's quality is not questionable. He is also never injured and is a model professional.

Arthur is turning 24 soon. It was the right move to dump the lazy, entitled sod as soon as possible for the best offer. In this current economic situation we would have been hard pressed to get a high lump sum of cash.

Had we waited for another year or two looking for a better deal whatever shine left on the bloke would have worn off, his problems would have only become more apparent and he becomes untransferable.

Board announced the deal early because it benefits both clubs financially to record the transaction in the previous financial year which ended in June. Not ideal for the players involved, but that's simply business. Arthur deciding to switch off after the fact is on him and no one else.

Ironically all his latest stunt has done is destroy and goodwill he had left with the fans. Even if you don't want to play just pipe down for a while since you'll be leaving in a few weeks anyways. Most Barca supporters still supported him the past two years despite mediocre performances, fitness concerns and off-pitch drama. When the transfer was announced they were sad to see a player they thought still had potential go. Now they're spitting on him.

This also reflects poorly to Sarri, Juventus any any future coach or club he goes to. Once you get this sort of reputation it doesn't go away.

'not good enough' is your personal opinion.

It was not only against his wish in general, as it has happened with players many times.
He was literally blackmailed and forced out, a few days before the fiscal year ended to balance the books.

No other player has been treated like that.

Again couldnt care less if Barca try to sell players that want to stay.

Arthur couldnt stay fit, was average on park for what Barca needed and had bad attitude off it.

Hope they try to sell Rakitic 'against his wishes' as well and Umtiti.

In what way was he 'blackmailed'?

Don't think they could have gotten much for him under these circumstances with a lot of teams being low on cash flow. I do wish they could have outright sold him for 40m or something though and signed Thiago back for 30m(a superior player imo), but Pjanic will do for 2-3 seasons I guess.

And yet, in my latest post, I noted United's actual track record with buys, to add plausibility. I can name other players they've overpaid for in recent years too if it helps establish the point that they're a poorly run club that would make a poor decision in paying a high fee for Arthur.

All you're doing is the equivalent of a researcher citing themselves over and over.

Again... naming players they overpaid for does not mean they were interested in Arthur... a player they did not need.

United never wanted him. No other top club were after him no matter how many times they had spent big in past.

He is showing the same respect that the club showed him.
That doesn't go on fans and teammates. That's pretty obvious.

That's precisely the treatment this board deserves

This is precisely the type of person Arthur is and club did well to force him out now before his attitude and ability were further exposed.

Abidal told him if he stays he will not play at all next year.
That's basically blackmailing, when a transfer and a deadline is pending

That is not blackmail at all.

Hope they do the same for Rakitic or Umtiti though if it is enough to force a move.
