Arthur

Makes perfect sense that he did not play any minute AFTER he signed for Juve.

Reason might be to avoid injury, but there might be other reasons looming on the side of the board.

One thing is clear: this is not Setien's decision

It makes no sense for board to not get involved when injury may derail the transfer but then get involved after deal done.

It is clearly Setiens decision he has not played more.

Now, about the club putting 'faith' on him and him being unprofessional,
sorry but that's all BS!

-Club bought him not after serious planning, but because all other first choice goals that summer (like Rabiot) were not available.
They didn't even know how Arthur will turn out.
He turned out a brilliant potential. Serendipity. Why the club should take credit for accidentally bumping into him?

https://twitter.com/RafaelH117/status/1287888179933204482

The fact that you bring an opinion of a certified idiot like Hernandez make it difficult to take your post seriously, but since you are generally a guy who tries to make an argument I will try to ignore that.

First, little fact checks:
Arthur negotiations started in November 2017 (read first few pages in this thread) , he posed with a Barca shirt with Roberto (our former sporting director, who is still to this day a close friend to him who accompanied him when he left to Turin) during December of same year.
Contract agreement with right to sign him was officially made in March (broad terms of deal were agreed earlier).
Deal was all but done by June 2018, along with Lenglet, both by Roberto Fernandez. Abidal was officially our Sporting director on 1st of July and less than 10 days of his reign Arthur was wearing his jersey in Barcelona.
First time we were even linked to Rabiot? July 6th.
Arthur was signed for a relatively big fee (30+9) and we were first to put interest in him, club was actually hyped with him. He had a lot of support from everyone when he joined.
Arthur was found, heavily scouted by the club and we moved very early to get him. He had huge faith from the club. Only other midfielder we tried to sign this summer were Vidal and Willian if you count him as midfielder, the later was a player to make 442 an option for EV. So please, the whole Rabiot theory isn't really even in discussion for him.

He would have never played.

It's clear that is not Setien's decision not to play him anymore. (Wake up people blaming Setien...)
Setien was always giving him minutes and starts, and suddenly he is not even coming on as a sub, and Setien says in the press conference that he will play Arthur "only if its absolutely necessary" Wait.... What??

Arthur of course knows that:
"Hagrid ✆
@HagridFCB
The Brazilian's environment conveys that the player has the feeling that there is a guideline given to the coaching staff so that he does not play anymore.
@ffpolo"
https://twitter.com/HagridFCB/status/1288032214786232322

Oh, tweets citing sources close to him trying to do a damage control. Sure Arthur probably think he is doing the right thing.

And how do you know any of those subjective points you are making?
Arthur was playing under Setien and suddenly minutes evaporate?
Ok, another fact check:
Before Covid, Arthur came from injury just in time after EV was fired
He had 7 games were he was healthy, and yes he played all of them, but he was coming on bench in 3 of them, was first player to be subbed out in 2 and only 1 game he played full 90 minutes. He didn't start any of the 4 games in CL/CDR either. 4 starts out of 11, one 90 minutes game doesn't sound like Setien like him that much.

After Covid and before his transfer, he played in 5 games, he was starter in only 2 of them and came from the bench in 3.
In his 2nd start, he was -again- first player to be substituted for Puig, and this is the game were his chances playing decreased. Puig totally outplayed him in every sense.
Setien was right to put him on bench, him and Puig aren't good fit together and if someone should play it is Puig.

And you seem to ignore one simple thing, he was one of our worst players under Setien, probably our worst player after the hiatus by some margin. Kid has run out of excuse during that time.
He could have played against Alaves, but he faked injury.

So sorry, nothing you have stated is "clear"and Setien actually stayed professional in most of his press conference until a day or two before the deal.
May be, just may be Arthur decided to act unprofessional during training? may be something from the player was the one thing that made the manager change his stance? I mean Setien remained supportive of Arthur during the time the board was pressuring him, suddenly when Arthur accepted the deal he changed his tune because board is forcing him to?

And regarding Napoli, we lack any depth in midfield, one more injury and it will be him or B player. He has a big chance to play.

- And all that supposed 'faith' evaporated suddenly around June, when the gang that runs the club realised that the only player they have received concrete offers for is Arthur, so he is the scapegoat that has to be sold (despite even in April and May saying everywhere that Arthur is not for sale and supposedly 'integral part' of the core for the future. They were trying to sell Semedo and Tobido back then.
What a bunch of clowns!)

Semedo was/is on the market due to failed renewal negotiations, Arthur is out of the club because of himself before anyone else.
He has been declining, under current manager and even before that.
He is almost 24 years old player who can't play 90 minutes, can barely defend (due to lack of stamina) and has no playmaking ability.
Why exactly he should have been kept? when a player with a body of U-15 female player who has not even represented his country in youth levels is out playing you, by wide margin you have no right to feel mistreated and pushed out of the club.

- Then, about his 'unprofessionalism': Until his transfer he had a couple disciplinary incidents (snowboarding and partying with Neymar).
Could have been avoided, but it doesn't show all that much that you wanna see .
He was always training, and the fact that he could not last 90 min many times, was in his 1st yr, when he was trying to adjust to European football. Nothing to do with being professional.

No, it goes beyond that.
Club had a problem with his fitness from day one, he failed them for 2 years.
He failed to develop as a player or show signs of improvement on any consistency during 2 years.
The start of this season was main problem as club didn't like how he showed coming from vacation.

A player like Neymar has always followed the club, it allowed him to transform physically within a year.
Even our hated amigos follow those guidelines and no one complain about them.
The incidents you mentioned isn't half important as that.

Arthur had 4 Liga games playing 90 minutes, only another one with 80+ minutes. 5 out of 21 games he played in Liga. Not sure I consider that as a great improvement.
Never mind in CL he had the lowest meter/minutes rate of any Barca midfielder bar Alena. Yes, grandpa's Raki/Busquets/Vidal outrun him and makes more effort.

Finally, he is morally (not legally) entitled to react like that when the club treats him like a cash cow..
Everybody and Barto's mother know they sold him to balance the books and not for sporting reasons.
He is exposing and ridiculing this corrupted board even more.
It looks way worse for the board than for him.

Well, if this thread is indicator for anything it looks worse for him. Even most who likes him hates he is doing that.
And no, morally he has no right to turn his back to his teammates. He isn't entitled to turn his back to the fans of this club. Nobody is entitled to be paid to quit on his team.

He also knows he won't play anymore this season and will most likely be sold but is still focused in trainings. That spoiled Brazilian should take a note or two from BraithGOAT.

Club decided to open disciplinary file against Arthur.
I like how it escalates.

If there was any brains in this board, they would have decided to move towards an 'amicable' solution and terminate mutually the contract.
Now they wanna appear ruthless against someone weak, when they bend over to the big names.

Good on them.

Be as ruthless as possible. Even against poor little Arthur the simple boy who dreamt of nothing but Barca.....

Dream is over. Party in Brazil.

Hopefully they get more than just the wages that he is going to miss but additional penalties on top of that for breach of contract.

Absolutely revolting individual and footballer.

Lucky we were able to recoup ~20m from him and get Pjanic as well because we overpaid 29.5m more than we should have for this pile of dross, dawg.

retarded to do this type of business before the season is over. 1. we could of identified a better player than Pjanic to replace him during the summer window and 2. it just causes disruption to the squad
shit from Arthur and shit from the board

Pjanic on average runs 11.5 KM a game. If he gives us 2 more years of that, we may have gotten the better end of the deal. Arthur even in his 'prime' averages like 10 km, I believe. 1.5 KM is a big difference at the absolute top level.

Arthur being sold was all part of Juventus and Barca balancing the books and massively inflating prices. The two are linked.

Doubt very much there was a big market for a player like Arthur who also has fitness and off field issues.

Puig has replaced Arthur and Pjanic is replacing Rakitic is better way to look at it.

That would have been ideal, but the board had to balance the book before june 30th.

Just shows what a mess the club is financially.

Always makes you look bad if you refuse to return to training at your club no matter the circumstances, it's just unprofessional. Unless you want to sign for Barca of course, then it's dedication and the club a prison

If the club more or less forced him out to balance the gloriously fucked up books it's understandable if he's frustrated but at the end of the day he's just hurting his own reputation with this.

True it's best if he stays professional and goes to trainings/ Staay quiet until you leave, then open your mouth and spill once settled at the new club.
