the history of the selecao makes the superstar of the team even more of a cash cow. we have bought the superstar of a 200m strong football mad country which is hosting the world cup. griping about the price of neymar under these circumstances is non-sensical.

Ah, you were talking finances and marketability? I thought you were using the argument from a sporting point of view. Fair play to you then.

Montoya is better than him in the opinion of people it seems to matter to in the u21's and national team.

So was Sahin a better player than Thiago the season he was voted best in Germany and Thiago was a bench player at Barca?

Alba is not a better defender than Marcelo though.
That was 2010-2011 wasnt it? Thiago wasnt yet in the first team, cant really compare them

I am talking about both. Ppl complaining about price and ignoring the massive income generation potential he has for us, so this price argument is nonsense, and ppl complaining about him not being needed, which is equally nonsense.

i agree that Roberto is enough, but some of the things jamdav says it just ...

barca have a few issues biggest among them out unbalanced defense and a aging player that is the fulcrum of the team

You guys are hilarious. Montoya is better because he started for U21s  What does that criterion make of Torres at Euro 2012? Sahin was the best in Bundesliga, of course he was better than Thiago at the time. It's like now that Thiago is in the center of interest of the big clubs he's all of a sudden better than all recognized players everywhere

I'm wasting time anyway. I'll leave you to thinking you're having a better transfer window than RM

It's not even the middle of July. Get a grip on reality.

The Transfer Window is far from over.

Don't need to tell me that. Tell it to your fellow Nikemar fans rating his transfer better than RM's entire transfer window.

Still so bitter he turned down the Madrid commercial millions.

As i said it is easier to improve a poor team.

Lets just wait until the transfer window closes, then we will compare who's shopping was better. So far Barca has signed Neymar which is an excellent signing & answer to our "Messi dependencia" problem. Now we need a CB & a GK for the future.

This must be the angst from not being able to get rid of Kaka.

That doesnt mean anything,Spain is full so right now it may not be the right time for them. They will propably be in the next. But surely Carvajal would be better than Arbeloa, maybe DB using more of Azpilicueta

I doubt they will be in the next as well. Illaramendi will be sold in a few seasons, while carvajal will be found out next season. montoya is del bosque's answer to his prayers. he has been raving about montoya for years.

So far I'm definitely happy with the transfer window from a Barca point of view. The forwards were a bit of a weakness last season for the team and Neymar looks to be a certain and immediate improvement, just his striking ability alone seems to assure that. His age is a bonus and so he could be one for the future as well. But he is a matchwinner that will get the team points so that they can again push for 100 points and maybe more.

In contrast, Real Madrid have so far had a "nice guy" transfer window. Three good young Spanish players, nice from an idealist perspective, in a way sensible, it could pay dividends in a few years time. But they need impact now, they finishined fifteen points behind last season, and I don't see these transfers making much impact. Carvajal maybe a little, assuming he can adjust to La Liga successfully and get ahead of Arbeloa. But Isco I don't see as an improvement on Cristiano or Ozil. Neither is Illarramendi an immediate improvement on Alonso. Maybe in a couple of seasons.
