You can't fault them, you just have to stare at them in awe and amazement.

They have a team that is incredibly balanced with top class senior players and some of the best youth talents in the world under the age of 23 that Simeone trusted to start and play in the CL against Barca. This is a team that seems to lose some of their top talent year after year buy replaces it with incredible youth players.

When you combine their incredibly well balanced squad with the intensity, passion and work ethic that Simeone has instilled into this squad, then you have an incredibly efficient, well-engineered footballing machine.

Don't be surprised if these guys win the Champions League and La Liga.

People here can hate me on this comment but I want Atletico Madrid to win the Champions League. They deserve it specially Simeone.

Some of the things their sport director, players and Simeone said after the first match and just before the second was probably what gave them extra push to get away with a win. It was very very close to what could be allowed, Mourinho v 2.0. Simeone knew it was going to be close - that's why the pitch was like it was, thats why they dived like hell and that's why the ref was afraid to call that last PK. Maybe it was naive of us to think this would be fair football, maybe we should have had our own agenda and instead of just being quite about the stuff Atletico said about us we should have countered with how dirty they play.

Or that he kinda knew Iniesta should have been sent off 10/10 times for that handball, and it was Iniesta who hit the ball for the pk decision afterwards.

Since Simeone took charge, Atlético have only conceded 4 goals in the Champions League at home (13 clean sheets in 16 matches)

I remember Saul against Real in the QFs last year when there was a bit of hype about him and thinking 'meh, he's not THAT good'. Dude has come so far in a year. Him and Koke from either side is a real nice pairing.

Lucas Hernandez gave a pretty big hint on the radio that he'd favor playing for Spain than France last night. Said something like he'd give it thought and Spain has given him everything. Would be a smart move and a really good coup for Spain.
