According to Marca, Godín is expected to be unavailable for 10-15 days and won't play against Málaga and Bayern Munchen.

Yes, Spain really don't have any CB depth behind Pique and Ramos.

I imagine VDB is trying very hard behind the scenes to get Laporte too. Or at least he should be.

If they get Laporte and/or Lucas, with Vallejo coming through, I think they'll be in pretty good shape again. Javi Martinez is still only 27 too so (barring injury) he'll be around for a bit while those guys develop.

There is a lot of hypotheses in this post ,I highly doubt Laporte is even considering Spain that much .he is French and he was clear about it .Playing for NT is about pride more than anything and while there are many Diego Costa there are way more players who are attached to their NT .
Laporte will get his chance once the Euro is over .Mathieu will be out and Koscielny won't stay with them for long and it will open the room for this new generation of him & Zouma to take over with Varane and Sakho .
Javi is playing CB in a Pep(and Bielsa b4 him) system .but under Ancelotti? very doubtful IMHO .he will return to his best position by far which is DM and there is a reason they are looking for a new CB with Benattia declining form .seem they are linked to players like Hummels & Mustafi
No one knows how good is Vallejo ,for now he is just a hyped kid just like Inigo Martinez and Bartera b4 him .the only bright spot for Spain would be Lucas as he is already look better than anything they have other than Pique & Ramos
The real good news is that Pique and Ramos could easily remain CB partners for 2020 .so they have time to look for the next big CB

Well, yeah, I didn't mean any of it to be objectively true.

The Laporte case is a funny one, though, it's really strange to not give him a cap by now. Sid Lowe said he imagines they're trying to get him to cross (again, imagines) after he put his international career in doubt. I think more and more we're seeing guys change allegiance all the time now, and not even to far inferior teams either.

I agree about Javi too, but he's still the most reliable after Pique and Ramos. Vallejo is also seen as the next big thing and while you're right that hype isn't everything, he's still the best under 21 prospect they have.

Imagine they had a predator like Suarez up-front.

I am not a fan Cholo's football but I do admire him and what he did with Atletico. And this is nothing like Chelski under Mou who had vast resources and yet played anti-football (vs. us).

Respect etc, but it's like win at all costs regardless of the rules.

The incident when he tells the ballboy to lob another ball on the pitch was just ridiculous. If that had happened in England there would of been hell to pay.

You do that, you lose/forfeit that game, totally out of order for the manager to directly disrupt the game like that.

Great win today. The tie is far from over and to be frank I still fancy Bayern to score a couple of times at the Allianz. That said, great to see Atleti doing so well at this level.
