Barca Transfers and Rumors

Were always slow in transferwindow and that is not a good thing. Other teams make predeals with all the best players and we get left with scraps.
I really hope the club doesnt start sweeping the massive midfield problem we have under the rugg like many already start to do here after winning one classico.

Other teams making pre deals and Barca being left with scraps is not true at all.

Even if Robert made calls to potential managers he wouldn't be announcing it publicly. His track record with signings is bad but let's see his 2nd try before completely writing him off.

Ibrahimovich, Mathieu, chasing after Thiago Silva a whole transfer window, reapeating it with Marquinhos...
Only to end up with whats left over.

What about Ibra or Mathieu?

Plenty teams chase players they dont get. In fact they all do.

Barca are not slower to sign up players than other teams.

About the Robert interview...

-The part about not knowing who the next manager is obvious BS. Lucho let them know of his decision last year so they've surely picked and spoke to the candidate at this point.

-By not much movement, I think Robert is referring to not making as many signings, not necessarily spending.

-The way I see it we absolutely need a top class RB and CM signing. Additionally we need a CM signing that could compete for a spot in the starting XI that doesn't necessarily have to to be a high profile transfer.. So that is 3 crucial transfers we absolutely have to make.

-The rest of the transfers, we need a CB (Mathieu will leave), RB depth, and a forward. We might we able to get away with this through Marlon, Palencia/Roberto and Deu.

So yeah three crucial transfers, two of which need to be high profile signings. The other will be a CM and a forward, who is pretty much already confirmed to be Deulofeu.

We dont need "high profile" signings. We need smart transfers. We have wasted huge amounts of money every transfer window for a long time now and we almost always loan out incoming garbage on a regular basis. We cant expect this to continue going forward so we need to finally be shrewd in the transfer market.

If we start to chase Thiago, Verratti, Isco and other ridiculous targets, we will look like fools once again.

We signed Umtiti last summer. And Sidibe was available for 15m euros. We went for Digne instead who can only play LB, not RB like Sidibe can. Robert claims it would be absurd to sign someone like Sidibe, but rational thinking suggests that it would have been far better. Of course there are options like that we could have went for, and there will be options like that this summer as well. We need to look at value in the market this summer as we dont have a bottomless pit of money to spend.

Lets say we buy Naby Keita for 35m. How about Almamy Toure for RB? He isnt a starter for Monaco, but he is a really great RB and only 20. We allowed Dembele to go to Dortmund and we dont know how much effort we really put into trying to sign him. He probably will be too expensive for us now IMO.

By high profile, I didn't mean unrealistic. More of an established player who is well known in the world of football and has already shown the required quality. I don't think it favours us to target 'potential' as last summer transfers were a disaster for the most part.

For example a guy like Fabinho would be a high profile RB signing but not unrealistic. Same with Bernardo Silva or Coutinho (I have my doubts about him) as a CM, especially if Liverpool don't get CL football.

Thiago, Veratti and Isco are pipedreams on this forum and will never happen.

Oh, dear. We are buying back our own players. Great! Deulofeu, reportedly Bellerin. That's just... our transfer policy forever!

Says we still insist on Davinson Sanchez, and Ajax want 25 Million euros for him.

Bellerin could do nothing about and Deulofeu was sold with option to buy back if he progressed which isnt that bad a situation.

Dont really want either of them back though.

Let's not forget Cristian Tello's loan at Fiorentina ends, too. Barca's next manager could include him in his plans for the season. Vermaelen, Munir...

We need more transfers like Umtiti IMO. But I do agree with you that it seems that we dont have the competence to find value in the market most of the time, so we just end up with garbage. Signing the best players from smaller leagues like Germany, France, Portugal etc dont seem to be on our agenda. After signing Abidal, we went 9 years before we finally decided to sign another player from France, Umtiti.

Arsenal seems to be signing Kolasinac on a free transfer who has been very impressive in the Bundesliga. Low risk, high reward. Those types of transfers just fly by us. So maybe we only should focus on stars with a very high price tag.

Danger Ahead
For me, a team that concedes 4-0 away so often (PSG, celta) and other big score lines

We need a midfield that can provide both control and defensive solidity

We don't need more players who take too many risks and turn over the ball too much

Coutinho, Bernardo Silva, ericksen, dele Ali all fall in that category.

I showed stats how coutinho and Silva each loses the ball twice as iniesta, and turnover the ball 4 times as Iniesta

More turnovers means we get even more counterattacks against us leaving us more exposed

That's why I prefer balance over flashiness
CMs over CAMs

Etc

Yeah, we already have a player who doesn't take too many risks, remember that stat - Gomes has like 90% passing accuracy. Does it help defensively or offensively? You need technical players first and then you need a manager who would know how to utilize midfield and make it more compact, just adding players who don't take risks won't help.

We need to let this guy go. Not as much movement as last year? This guy has to be joking. We need two starters at least. A top RB and a top midfielder will cost as much as 100m potentially.

Maybe he means that we will bring fewer players. But if I don't see two great players signed in the summer I'm going to lose it for good.

Not as much movement meaning not as many players like last season. He also said we will sign a RB, Midfielder and probably Deulofeu.
