selling iniesta??? i'm shocked!

first: he is not over and can give still much for experience and class if he will be managed well...

second: he is 33 years old...how much you think to gain with his sale???

third: this is don andres iniesta...legend!
no other words...

idem for el jefe...
not a legend, but a warrior!

We also didn't pay 80M for either of them.

We will probably recover way higher percentage of their price than Mathieu,Vermaelen,Arda
Younger players get you more money on resale, that was even something the board pointed out about their signings last summer.
You need to flop so bad like Song in order not to recover a significant portion of what we paid for

I know guys.
If you buy Arda aged 30 for 40M, you will return 5-15M max one day.

If you buy a flop like Gomes aged 23 for 40, you will still return only 25-30, let's say.

Some posters in this topic mentioned how Real is buying players for 30 and selling them for 50, more or less only because these guys are young.
In the case of Gomes, Paco and Digne, we can see that a value of players isn't growing ONLY because they are young.
You need both skills and being young.

So, yes, it is better to buy a young flop like Gomes than an old flop like Arda.
But in order to recover all money or to even earn, we will need to buy GOOD players also.

In short:
Real is buying young and good players, who's value is rising over time.
Barca is buying mostly old and bad players or young and bad players.

So, it is not only about age of players.
Our scouts and sports directors are poor for years in more or less every aspect.

Another difference between Barça and Madrid is that we usually don't sell our younger important (I'm not only thinking about starters, but let's say best 14-15) players. The last time we sold those type of players we recuperate the money we paid for Alexis and Cesc. But of course you can't expect to get much for players like Song, Tello or Douglas, who never established themselves as good enough players for us. Madrid also have similar player in Lucas Silva (wherever he's now on loan). And of course we won't get anything for old and injury prone Vermaelen (and even here Madrid have their own example in Coentrao).

Nowadays we could easily sell Neymar for 100M or let's say Umtiti for 50-60M but we want to keep them. Madrid sold Di Maria when he was 26 and one of their most important players a season before. Now they'll sell James who has fallen out of favour with Zidane but based on his quality could still be a starter for them. The same for Morata. Would you prefer that approach just so we could say we can also sell our players better than we do now? I know I prefer to keep our best players. You might disagree about Neymar because you dislike him but it would be hard to replace him.

I'm not disputing the fact that Madrid's transfer policy recently has been better than ours and their results have shown that (I still think that Lucho's poor tactics and squad rotations have made difference between our and their team looked bigger than it really is though and I fully expect Valverde will improve that). But things are not always as black and white as you are trying to picture them.

do we want make a comparison between FCB and RM, starting from ten years ago?

why make it only now? too simple...

i remember RM that bought all players in the world and instead we grew up and made play a lot of young players from la masia...

i remember manita, many victories at bernabeu, a lot of trophies and awards, while RM bought, bought, bought and didn't win and didn't play like us...

now is their moment...
we failed last summer session and now we pay for those mistakes...
but we have always a lot of resource to return to win.

They sold Di Maria and improved their team.
They will sell James and probably again improve their team.

Imo, you analogy is not good.

Analogy of selling James and Di Maria would be:
1) sell Rakitic and buy Seri/Verratti
2) sell Mats, buy De Gea etc

We sold one crap (Fab/Song) and buy a different kind of a crap (Gomes, Denis etc).
They sold a crap/not needed player and build a team which won 3 CLs in 4 years.

Again, I don't agree with your analogy.
Remove Messi plus Xavi+Iniesta+Busi and La Masia kids and everything else which our club has done in the last 5-6 years is an absolute disaster.
Some will say that we bought Neymar, imo, that is another disaster.
80-90% of other transfers are disaster to avarage at best.

Transfers, long term plans, wages, how a player fits to our system.
Everything is on a tragedy level of quality among our directors.

Sell Vidal, Matthieu, Mascherano, Iniesta, Roberto, Rafihna, Denis

Buy: Ricardo Pereira, Jairo Riedewald, Ousmane Dembele

You should give a call or send your CV to the board with such ideas, they might actually like it :bartomeu:

Everyone knows how bad we need a RB this summer and I think they will charge us big time, whether it is Bellerin, Semedo, or else ...

I think the best thing to happen for this club is if we get taken over by the Saudis or the Qataris. The management and even business model of Barca can't keep up with how much money is involved in the sport now. No catalans that run our club understand this.
