Barca Transfers and Rumors

Just making things up.

In what way has Umtiti been better than Alves, Masch etc? Even Suarez or Neymar.

Umtiti been a great signing but for case of making a point are rating him ahead of club legends and players that have been best in world in their position over a sustained time.

Even TS, Alba, Villa etc could be said to be up there as signings.

La Masia is not in a 'horrific state' either. More rubbish just to try and make a point.

People are forgetting Pique. Yes, there have been times when h3s been shit but he has been at the club for almost a decade now. We bought him for 3 million if I recall correctly.

Pique is the only one that can be said to be shrewd business like Umtiti. Although he was our own player and we largely created him. I doubt he would join us or if we would show any interest if he wasnt a former La Masia player. In that sense, Umtiti is different. No connections to La Masia at all. We still went for him. Thats impressive by our transfer team. A low key transfer that has been a sensational bargain and massively increased in value since then.

JamDav1982 lives in Venezuela (not Scotland), a country with inflation rate is in excess of 250%, more than 10 times that of any other country. So he is used to big inflated numbers and won't understand why a player would cost 3 million.

Great banter as always.

Doesnt make sense but good effort.

He cost more than 3m.

Stick to telling us how shit Coutinho is. Suits you more.

Cmon. Umtiti was/is our best defenseman. By far. He s been outstanding this season, our MVPs with Steigen and Messi. And Busquets.

Nah, Alba has been up there in my book as well.
Anyhow, I absolutely adore Umtiti who - a few bloopers aside - has been consistently fantastic this season, but that doesn't change the fact that his absence has barely been felt because Verminator and to a degree Piqué has stepped up.

The dude I replied to went full retard over a claim that his absence has barely been felt, which is the truth, and has nothing to do with Umtiti's level of play.

Umtiti has been fantastic from the first kick on the ball for us. His presence speaks for itself. I am sure we have had good games without Messi as well, but please dont use that as an argument against Messi. Last stat I saw, we have lost 1 La Liga game with Umtiti since he joined us and 8 without him. He has been an absolute monster and a bargain.

You're welcome
I just hope Umtiti won't leave. Getting Griezmann might help him to stay, but after winning 3 La Liga titles he might be on the lookout for a new adventure.

Umtiti is too good a player to lose.

The problem with football nowadays is it is business first, sport second. Unless a player has some deep emotional attachment to the club he will always move be it money or trophies.

Messi, Busquets, Pique, Iniesta are the last of a dying breed. Players formed in the academy and will most likely finish their careers at this club.

This is very unlikely to happen in the future. Just look at that jackass Neymar for example.

I don't think he was talking about all signings. My specific point was regarding cheap young signings who've turned out to be excellent (Asensio, KDB, Coutinho,etc.). I can't remember the last time we got such a player. Which is why I said I don't count 25m Umtiti in there (25m is a decent sum of money, albeit not that much in this market, but that was not the kind of signing I was talking about).

If we were talking about all signings, I don't think you can look past Alves, if we're talking last decade or so.

I get your point and completely agree, but your analogy is pointless as you're completely missing my point.

I'm still not criticizing Umtiti (I actually thought I already made it abundantly clear how much l like him) - hell this is barely even about him. Fact of the matter is that we didn't miss him or feel his absence, as the others stepped up their game and played very, very well for the most part. I haven't been back to check, but I'm fairly sure that was Jam's point as well back then, when someone had a hissyfit and felt a block was the only possible way forward.

Goretzka or Arthur?

Take your pick.

Whats the point of Goretzka now? Wasnt he supposed to be the cheap box-to-box alternative last summer? Arthur is a passer, but I'd pass on him for 50m. That price is insane when he wasnt even in the Team of the Season this year (Hernanes was the best midfielder). I watched him twice and its difficult to rate him. I see him more as a Lucas Leiva type and for 50m there isnt real value in such a gamble.
