Barca Transfers and Rumors

Well we are supposedly looking at a few RBs ...... anything is possible ..

If we are afraid Sergi Roberto may not fare well defensively against Ronaldo and the likes,
The solution can't be buying a RB who is even weaker defensively
Simple logic

Half the battle of stopping Ronaldo is Marcelo.

Marcelo has pretty much dominated that left hand side the past few times Barca have played them which allows Ronaldo to drift centrally.

About the only time that didnt happen in past couple seasons was when Roberto played RW and matched Marcelo energy and kept him occupied with a lot of movement in the 4-0 win.

As great as Messi is his lack of defending is an issue vs Real and they target it with Marcelo to make Ronaldo life easier.

Lucho needs to think of something different.

Maybe we can play Suarez or Neymar on the RW instead?

Or just play Messi there and let him occupy Marcelo enough defensively that he won't have time to make his runs forward 20 times per game. It's not like Messi can't defend on the wings either when he's in full form and motivated, which he usually is in El Clasico.

Right now I'm more affraid of Bale playing 1 on 1 against Alba than Ronaldo beating Roberto on the other wing. Yes, CR can still score but those long 40 or 50 m runs on the wings are the past for him. He's been more of a goal scorer (waiting for his opportunity closer to the box) rather than a winger over the last few seasons. Roberto can deal with one or two of his possible runs in the game but of course he needs to have cover from our CBs as well.

Would be thrilled if Vidal is shown the door but we will need rotation at RB too, until a better alternative is brought in

We will sell Vidal for 8-12 M and Rafinha for 3-8 M.
Then we will buy some new RB for 30M.

I know that we don't have other solutions and this is how prices go up and down, but it is so sad to see how much money we are losing on some players (Vidal in this case). From 25-30M to 10-ish M in 18 Months.

Huh? 30m for a RB? When we have Roberto? Did I miss something?

A rumour about 34 y.o. Srna becoming a free agent at the end of the season and a potential Barcelona target in the winter window, presumably if Vidal fails to make an impact. Would be a great temporary signing on a free, even at his age.

His age makes it a stopgap measure but he's a leader & competitor, I'd take him over Vidal any day of the week
