Barca Transfers and Rumors

There are risks to Roberto at RB but he needs to be given the chance and could go on to be one of best in world.

There are no risk free RB options anyway so Roberto deserved that chance.

i'm ok with giving roberto a chance, never said anything else. also, srna should have been bought instead of vidal but we missed the chance and now he is too old.

We cant. Its like Chelsea fans saying they can splash the cash on Busquets. Not. Gonna. Happen. He is not available. Whats available is in smaller clubs.

it didn't affect pogba moving to man utd. i'm not saying that any player is available, but if we really want someone and through enough money at it then we can get it.

there aren't good rightbacks for us at big clubs anyway. azpilicueta and bellerin would be the right age, not sure that they are the right quality. the others should not be chased because of the age or quality.

Juve is a selling club. Elite clubs are not. There is no way we can get anyone we want. The ridiculous PSG sagas should have taught us that.

If we splash the cash next summer, its likely to be on a midfielder, not a backup RB (all signings would be backup to Roberto).

Srna could actually come for free and right away (now, not in the winter), if he breaks his contract with Shakhtar and come as a free player to Barca.
Transfer fee 0, only wages.

But that would be really strange - I think Sport just made that possibility up. He played as their captain 4 days ago and we could have bought him cheaply 1 day ago, so why would they agree to let him go for nothing? We should definitely remember him in January and make an assessment again then.

Yeah, but why would Shakhtar let him go now that transfer window is over (I don't know if it's for Ukrainian clubs too as they usually have a bit longer transfer window than the rest of Europe) and they can't get replacement for him? I'd understand if he'd want to leave because of political situation in Ukraine (though that has been bad for some years now and he didn't leave before as some of his Brazilian teammates did). Maybe one of the reasons is that Mircea Lucescu has left and he's not on the same page with their new coach Paulo Fonseca? Or he just wants a new challenge in his career after spending more than a decade there.

Anyway, I'd gladly accept him for a season or two if we can really get him but I doubt it will happen.

It's not usual Sport's BS, MD is reporting it too, but story is based on some Ukrainian website named Tribuna. I don't know how reliable they are.

And if he's released from his contract with Shakhtar we can sign him right away as he would be a free agent. But as said above I doubt this will happen.

About why would Shakhtar let him go for nothing, clubs sometimes "let go" their players who played for them for 5-10 years, something like: "Thank you" and if you want to leave, we won't cause you troubles after everything you achieved here.
He played there for 13 years and even during a war in Ukraine when a lot of players left or wanted to leave.

It's not too unusual.

Probably it's too late in this transfer window, but maybe it'll happen in January.

Unlikely in my opinion, we've been preparing for the future all window. He is 35, has no resale value so in the unlikely chance he is too old for our system and he plays horribly we probably wont be able to sell him. We'd have to pay his wages until he retires.

I doubt we will sign him for more than 2 years contract. He is 34 and this will be his last chance to put a big club in his CV b4 he retires so it is unlikely he will be negotiating for high wages either.
He will be a back up RB,push Vidal to the wings. so won't affect our future plans
That said, I am not sure how reliable is the sources tbh.

If we bring in a 35 year old (He'll be 35 by the time he comes if next summer is really when he joins) for backup RB our problems won't really be resolved. For a backup role you don't exactly have to be exceptional. I'd give Palencia a game or two and see how he does, the kid is really hard working even if he's not Dani Alves's regen and should deserve at least one chance to stake a claim with Lucho.
