Surely you should want a B team player called up not some 34 year old?

What sign is that to La Masia?

Love to, love to have gotten Grimaldo at LB instead of paying for Digne but hey this board made sure that La Masia wasn't producing La Masia talent for the first team

Yet yesterday you claimed La Masia 'gems' were being ignored by first team.

Constant contradictions to try and fit any situation into your point of view.

Grimaldo wasnt good enough, acted like a twat and left. Good luck to him but Digne is better.

You clearly cant rate Munir as good enough either then. Again a contradiction to what you claimed yesterday.

As good as you dismissing certain players as not La Masia products but then including them in Peps all La Masia eleven...which was false anyway.

What La Masia talent did Laporta produce?

Soler came out today and said that we had an agreement with Juventus for first option on Pogba, but in the end Barca decided against it and made the signing we did.

I'm very happy we did. Spending that money on Umtiti/Paco/Digne/Suarez/Gomez was a far more wise investment.

Huh? 30m for a RB? When we have Roberto? Did I miss something?

That's how we usually buy. This is why I have written this.

A rumour about 34 y.o. Srna becoming a free agent at the end of the season and a potential Barcelona target in the winter window, presumably if Vidal fails to make an impact. Would be a great temporary signing on a free, even at his age.

Srna was our target even in 2008, 2009 or something like that.

He is 34 and he will be 35 in the next summer, but he still played world class this summer on Euros, aged 34.
The best Croatian player in the last 10 years with Modric and Rakitic.

No offense to our Bteam players, but Srna is like a slightly weaker version of Dani Alves. (A very similar type of a player who can play alone and cover the whole right side both in defense and in attack, in Dani's style)
World class in defense (maybe better than Alves), very good in attack (weaker than Alves), awesome stamina, awesome crosses (better than Alves), awesome direct free kicks, crosses from free kicks and corners plus very good shots from outside of a box.
Mentally a strong person, captain of Croatia for years, played 134 times for an NT team, and played on several World cups, Euros, and won Uefa cup with Shakhtar.

His contract is expiring in summer of 2017, but we could probably buy him for peanuts in winter, 6 months before his contract expiration.

Imo, personally, a way better play than Roberto. But also, he could be awesome for rotation with Roberto for 12-18 Months, as a short term solution until we find some new 2nd choice RB.

If we can really get him for peanuts, then we should sell Vidal and sign Srna.
With Roberto and Srna as Rbs, we shouldn't have any fears anymore and we could easily challenge for a CL again.

** Plus, Srna never causes any problems in a locker room.

i've always liked him as a player, but i'm afraid that ship has sailed. just too old and we didn't even try for him this summer. anyway, we can break the bank for any right-back next summer since we should be well covered on the other positions(maybe buy another CB?).

Srna at that age

If he pulls a Zannetti i would take him

How injury prone is he?

According to TM he missed 3 games in last 6 seasons because of injury, so he's very durable.

He is almost never injured and plays all matches every season.
Till now, he seems like a guy who isn't affected by ageing at all, even though he is already 34.

Further, about Barca wanting him, for several summers in the past, we wanted to buy him.
Maybe he didn't want to come here since he was a captain of Croatia and Shakthat Donetsk, while he would be a benchwarmer for Dani here.
But now when Dani is gone...
Also, he played for years in Ukraine and since their political situation is not good in the last few years, maybe he would like to play in some other club for the last 2 years of his career.

Also, about Barca wanted him always, he probably fits our Rb's profile, since he can cover the whole right flank in both ways, and has a lot of stamina.
For Croatia he played as a pure Rb, as an attacking Rb and as a winger in 442 when needed on some occasions.

This summer he was already 34, but he still played like a young player in terms of stamina and running.
This is a video of an opening match on Euros: Croatia vs Turkey.
Croatia played 451 with Srna as a RB, with Modric-Rakitic-Badelj as Cms, and with Perisic as a left winger and Brozovic as a right winger.
But on this video, you can see that Srna is attacking all the time, throwing good crosses (but Croatian attackers are poor and can't score a shit), creating actions etc.
He really reminds of Dani in some parts (playing very attacking, but still being able to defend well):

breaking the bank for an inferior RB to Roberto is meaningless. Srna could be an interesting stop-gap solution.

when i've said "break the bank for any right-back" i was thinking of expensive right-backs at worldclass level or already established players at elite/big clubs.

what is robertos level at RB, does anybody know yet? let's wait and see. i he comes good, maybe it will suffice to buy a young promising right-back or a versatile player a la adriano. if not, we can splash the cash on whoever we want.

There are risks to Roberto at RB but he needs to be given the chance and could go on to be one of best in world.

There are no risk free RB options anyway so Roberto deserved that chance.

We cant. Its like Chelsea fans saying they can splash the cash on Busquets. Not. Gonna. Happen. He is not available. Whats available is in smaller clubs.
