Liverpool hit the jackpot with the 80m transfer of Van Dijk. While our scouts were sleeping in hotels in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, Van Dijk was playing for Celtic against us. Scouts neglect minnow Barca matches in CL for decades now. The sole reason Hristo Stoichkov ended up at Barcelona was that direct clash in the 1/2 finals of the Cup Winners Cup in 1988/89 between Barcelona and CSKA Sofia. Cruyff saw something special in this guy and told the club to act on his transfer.

Yay. We're a franchise team now like the Packers with Brett Favre. All our budget putting into aging stars like Messi and Neymar for the sake of commercial value.

Competitive team = pass to Messi ahead of all options. Reason why Sergi Boberto get's back into the lineup.

Could just be smoke.

I find it hard to believe the club are waiting to offer Messi a contract renewal since they're waiting for the audit to be completed by mid-may and don't know what they can offer in terms of money, but are in talks with Neymar, Memphis Depay and Aguero.

Makes very little sense.

You're right. They are probably preliminary talks. In regards to lower budget signings like Eric, Depay, Wijd(?) they may be more advanced because of competitive buyers.

But I am starting to think that the board like this Neymar option because of the commercial+sporting impact. Also an opportunity to try and wage dump 2 of the 3 big wage earners (Cou,Griez,Dembele) while also not need to nego a new deal in regards to Dembele.

They want to cover short term debt and in theory Neymar+Messi might be the quickest commercial value builder as they are still both top 3 most marketable football players in world.

Could well be the case as well as setup Neymar as the playmaker post-Messi assuming Messi only stays two more season.

If Haaland stays at Dortmund for another season he might be an option next summer too.

The little snake isn't stalling his contract renewal for no reason. Until I see a communicado official from PSG , I'll just assume something is going on behind the scenes with him and Barca.
