Not the most reliable source I know but looks like he might have fallen out of favor with Rennes manager. His team played today but if rumours are true he went to Barcelona with his agent (former United player Mikael Sylvestre) instead. Not really a good sign imo.

IIRC I've watched him a few times in U17 Euro last year and he looked quite good but maybe has attitude problems and Rennes is looking to offload him. Not sure if worth the trouble unless available for cheap. That's if we're actually interested.

Who do people want to see as the 3rd midfielder after Busquets is gone? He's on his last legs and won't last forever. Gavi far too raw and has had quite a poor season. Kessie nothing more than a sub or starter for low quality opposition. Feel like we're one world class signing away from having a formidable midfield with FDJ and Pedri. But the drop off in quality with Gavi/Kessie being that 3rd midfielder is too high.

Are we even interested in the French kid. Maybe he just was interested in seeing a big LaLiga game, and after having seen Xaviball first hand, vowed never to return.

Good question. If we maintain a mid quartet then it may be easier to find competition for Gavi while keeping Busi starting for another seaoson.

The obvious answer about Busquets is to find someone young enough with high potential in South America or a top 8 Euro League. Just be thankful there is no money to pay the Zubimendi release clause, which like most of Xavi interested players, is an easily scoutable low hanging fruit.

The real answer is Xavi sees Busquets as best DM in the world and he will be starter next season if he doesnt choose to leave.

Other than that Pedri/FDJ together deeper would be class.. Similar to way City play with Rodri and Gundo.. defensively a flatter two then when in possession one steps forward to AM and a defender goes into midfield to help.

Could easily have Christensen stepping up into midfield beside FDJ then which allows him to go and hunt ball if teams break.

Pedri and FDJ have been class in the couple games played deeper together.

The control of Barca needs to be given to FDJ and Pedri.

Are we still interested in Rayan Vitor? He is killing it at the u17 SA Championships. Almost a cheat code to have someone so big at 16 years old In the side.

Surely he will be in first team dynamics sometime this season for Vasco (and thus a price rise) along with that Kauie guy we were linked with last week. Another cheat code being bigger than his age.

Pretty much the most likely outcome... Diaz seems pretty obvious at this point.

In an ideal world we would get some established, world-class DM in his prime (on a free xD). With all the money in the world fucking Zubimendi (thank fuck he won't come) and Amrabat (who I don't rate at all) are the "top" solutions. Hard pass.

Us trying to loan Amrabat last window at least shows that the club is working on it.
