Linked to Lo Celso now.

Well yeah, only in the case of swapping for :lenglet:.

But this guy isn't anything more than depth for a club like ours.

EDIT

For the role Xavi is looking for (offensive creative midfielder with defensive coverage- Bernardo Silva being the magnum opus) I wonder if Thiago Almada could be a good low cost option.

The obvious choice would be pay the clause of Gabriel Veiga and be done with it though. Levels above El Raton Baena who is the other player named.

Lo Celso on loan with Lenglet going the other way wouldn't be the worst idea. Not sure how much we'd really save in terms of wages though.

But what's interesting to me is Xavi is apparently looking for not 2 but 3 midfielders (at least reports said he wants Lo Celso alongside a new DM and Gundo) which indicates to me he plans to use 4 midfielders setup more. Now unlikely we'll even manage to get two midfielders let alone 3 but we'll see.

Would Almada really be that low cost? Lots of clubs are interested so would 20m even be enough? And I think club would consider that too much for relatively unproven player from MLS even if we could somehow afford him.

Having good depth in midfield would be welcomed but I think just getting a good DM and Gundo should be enough. If Kessie is sold can also keep Nico around although I think Xavi mostly sees him as a backup to FDJ (in his current role not as a Busi replacement although I do believe FDJ will also be used as backup to whichever DM we'll get) so he probably wouldn't play that much.

Would also have different tactical options with versatile midfielders capable to play multiple roles.

"normal" 4-3-3 - could be used against most La Liga teams at home when we don't have to defend a lot

Pedri-FDJ-Gundo
(Nico?-Ambrat?-Gavi)

3-2-5/3-4-3 whatever we call it with a double pivot/midfield box, Balde pushing up high on the left with Kounde staying back - probably used in away games to have more control

Amrabat - FDJ
Pedri/ - Gundo/Gavi

We've mostly used this system to compensate for Busi's lack of mobility but I think even with Imhotep leaving we could still continue to use it to get the best out of FDJ and also give more freedom to Pedri closer to the goal. And if we'd have another creative player (who can also score) like Gundogan alongside him would be even better.

That said, Pedri could ofc also play deeper alongside FDJ as they already did sometimes this season when chasing a goal. Probably won't be a primary option to start the games though.

Now whether Xavi is good enough to figure out how to get the best out of each player and what formation/system he should use against certain opponents remains to be seen.

Nothing is happening. First we need to sell for anything to happen. This will be a loooong summer for Barca fans.

Lo Celso is a good player, but not sure he'll want to join us to play second fiddle and potentially lose his starting spot for the Argentine NT.

Agent of Fabricio Diaz, talking to Italian media

“However, there are several clubs in Europe that are interested in my client, but I prefer to keep it confidential.

“Inter is a club that is very close to us (his agency). The same goes for Juventus, Roma, Torino, Milan and others.”

Nevertheless, Rodriguez Nader insists that Inter Milan – and all the other Serie A clubs for that matter – are yet to present a concrete offer for Fabricio Diaz.

But the agent believes that the player’s Italian nationality would certainly help him make a smooth switch to Europe.

“For now there are no concrete offers from any Italian club.

Suggests there may be an offer tabled from non Italian club(s?). Could it be us?
