Honestly, why not just play Pau Prim at DM in the first team?

He knows what to do, and he is class. Sure he is young. So Pedri, Ansu and Gavi.

Nah prim is way too weak for that step up, he looks the best bet long term from a home ground prospective though.

Maybe in 2 seasons time.

Prim and Casado both struggle against more physical opponents who presses them. And that is in U-17 or 3rd division.

Think of Eric Garcia, whom every coach rave about how smart he is, but when he is against professionals he suffers because his mind isn't quick enough and his body doesn't allow him to follow through what he wants to do.

Prim might develop better and be able to coup with such pressure, but he is few years away.

I have a hunch we will probably end up seeing Christensen as a DM in some games depending on how we fare in the market.

Will it work? no idea but I have to assume Xavi probably has some thoughts about it.

It makes sense to me. My only issue is Christensen's injury record.
I cannot believe this club is so bad in its planning. We know Busquets has been done for a while now. Surely we should have made some arrangements in January at least. A loan or something else which would give us breathing room.
Everyone knows we are after a DM and we are shit at negotiations.
Might as well loan Kalvin Phillips and Cancelo from City.
We really have turned into another Serie A club.

Romeu is a better fit than Amrabat easily. He actually understands how to be a Barca-type DM. The big downside is his age, he will be 32 in September... Would've been okay buying him for depth 3 years ago, but it is what it is

Reminder that City won a CL with Stones as a DM and reached a final of another with Gundagon playing there.

I think Romeu will be fine provided the board are willing to back that up with a top prospect either this summer or the next.

Wouldn't want to count on Romeu for more than a season. Would probably mean Xavi will be fixated on waiting out for Zubimendi. That stubborn little catalan chestnut.

Rodri actually started most of games when they reached the final. It was just in the final Gundogan played DM, coincidentally they lost.

I said it before, he is closer to Barca B level than 1st team. But potential is big. Very smart and fundamentally sound player at both ends.
A year or so ago he looked like one of those underdeveloped, technically gifted talents… now he also looks athletically quite gifted.
