What happened with Echeverri, the brain trust were saying it's in the bag.

Now the forum (brain trust) will loose their collective shits once this kid explodes for city, that we didn't sign him when he was worth 25m..

Seems talented and we need an Argentine in the team, gotta take advantage of the messi connection.

I mean yeah if he explodes then I assume people will be salty considering the last time a cheap Argentine great talent was available we said nah thanks to that and signed Ferran Torres for twice the money instead. I think if we made an offer both Alvarez and Echeverri would join us instead, but when you don't make an offer or can guarantee anything talents these days don't want to be sitting around for months in hope.

Financial situation of the club remains a total mess even with all the levers which is probably why we didn't sign Echeverri though. Only way out for this club is probably that ESL money or a sale of the club itself.

If he explodes at City some 3-4 years into the future, that means nothing transported to Barcelona. City are a much much better club atm, and for the forseeable future. Every young player these days would be better set if he signs for City.

Money are also an issue. Let's not forget that the club still needs some top starters in 2-3 positions. Guys like Echeverri is like thinking about a nice new sofa to replace your current one, while your roof has holes in it.

1st you fix the roof, then you fix the kitchen, then you change the floors, and then, 2-3 years later after the squad is fixed, you think about some long-term projects like a nice 17 year old talent for 25m.

Besides, isn't he playing as a midfielder on Pedri's position?

Au contraire. He would have a far higher chance of succeeding had he signed here. No language barrier, way more playing time, way easier league to acclimatise to. Or are you suggesting his progress will be stunted because of our manager? 😱

I don't think more playing time very early is a positive. As if there's such a rush to play 3000 mins a season at 17 or 18. The rush is generated by the club's desperation. It's a club in Barca's position that needs immediate impact, not the player. The players is just starting his career, has all the time in the world to take it slow and steady, not burn stages.

Rushing kids and giving them all this insane exposure in the media and such mounts huge pressure prematurely, when the player is not yet mentally ready to deal with it.

City are a much better team, that's the best argument. He will develop following the normal procedure, without panic, because City already have a squad filled with top class players left and right, players he can learn from in time. That is what top talents need most.

I more meant money to sign high level players, we come find 25m to sign him, it's the other issues presented by la Liga that makes it difficult.

Pretty much only girona and real Madrid can spend money in the league.

But I get m your overall point.

PSG "sold" 12.5% of their ownership for an undisclosed amount. The club said that their valualtion is over 4billion so some simple maths dicate that the sale was around 500m euros.

If we could be valued similarly or more, then a capital injection and a hybrid model is the only way forward for the club- without the Super League.

BTW, any idea how much Radcliffe bought 25% of Man UTD for?

Our problems are multi-faceted. And only now after all the damage is done, LaLiga are lessoning the FFP margins. Rather than dreaming of the Super League, perhaps Tebas and Laporta should first both find a superior businessman to be a legitimate LaLiga President Candidate.

Last bit x10.

It's too late now for him to try to rectify the damage he's done.

I don't think any barcelona fan would be opposed to a 50%+1 model or something similar in order to get some cash infused into the club.

What ever happened to the 1.5m we were suppose to get now that we won the super league case.

Don't think we'll see that 1.5b euros before the Super League kicks off, if it ever does. Their plan is to start it from 2025-26, but there's no Super League without at the bare minimum, the top Serie A clubs + Bayern at least IMO.

No one's paying big money to watch a league with Barca, Real Madrid and a bunch of fodder.

INEOS/Ratcliffe paid 1.3 billion pounds for a 25-29% stake in Man Utd.

FWIW he tried with us first: https://onefootball.com/fr/news/how-sir-jim-ratcliffe-tried-to-buy-barcelona-before-man-utd-37766659
