Since he came back this season Gundogan hasn't been the amazing Gundogan we saw prior to his back injury, only showing spurts of excellence.

I am not sure if he would be a good buy at all.

It's not as difficult if the player really wants to join Barcelona.

All big clubs wanted Lewa. Yet he had a verbal agreement and kept his words.

Don't tell me only Lewa is a not a liar. If Barca has a verbal agreement with Reus, I don't see him changing his mind.

That said, can you tell us what's MD's sources? Ty.

They named a sports lawyer, and some fifa and rfef "anonymous sources".

A superstar signed for big money and flunks = disaster. For what Gündoğan will potentially cost, hardly disaster. Buying him doesn't preclude the signing of Verratti in the future either, who will cost a bomb no doubt.
But you can't go for every superstars when there can be only 11 starters.

Gundogan and Verratti are not players that will accept the bench for example.

That's the problem with Reus at the moment. People want him, I want him, but I hope people know he won't come to warm the bench.

Well we signed Vermaelen for very low amount. He is not a disaster now? In case of barca or any other big club buying a superstar for huge amount who turned out be not so good is not a disaster, if it is just money he will earn you a lot more. Will madrid care if james turned out be a bad player in the end. I don't think so because they have a huge chance of recovering every penny spent on him. A disaster would be when we sign a good player considering him to be key part of our plans and he never makes a debut. That would be a total disaster imo. We will sign Verratti only if he is affordable anyway, rarely you see clubs breaking their bank for midfielders.

If Barca can either go for Gundogan or Verratti, I would prefer Verratti.

Verratti is almost never injured and is improving every seasons.

He just tends to get lots of yellows, but really it's down to the coach being good or not. Under Carlo, he was much more calm than he is now.
Yeah if Veratti leaves I wish we'd get him. A bit immature and reckless still but he has everything it takes to be a world class player.

Verratti is a player I covet strongly for Barca. Such a talented young player. Anything the team can do to secure him, they should move heaven and earth to do it, however difficult it might be.

Gundogan's situation, with his recuperation and contract, might also present a nice target for a verbal commitment and leave him playing in Dortmund one more season as he regains his form. He's also likely to not cost an extravagant amount.

Barca needs to plan their transfers and reinforcements starting now, hence getting a new, and good, Sporting Director quickly is a very important task. By summer 2016 the team is likely to need 2 CMs (again) with Iniesta 32 and Rakitic 28. Rafinha might not develop to the level needed, ditto with Roberto, and Denis Suarez looks more offensive minded. Planning and setting up the groundwork for then is key.

Likely to need 2 RBs as well, another LB, a CB too.

Why'd you do this?? How I want Verratti in a Barca shirt...false hope, oh you!

because I don't want Verratti to waste his time in France anymore + I want him to join either barca or Dortmund + Barca being a realistic possibility while Dortmund is not.

Get marquinhos.

Lucho was right about marcos being a possible good RB.

He played RB recently at PSG and did great, really great.

He will end up being a TS-like CB + a competitive RB.

Gonna say it again. I had my doubts in the past because Marcos played only a few times (mostly a few minutes as sub each times) as RB, but he's a monster as RB too now.

Lucho was right from the start about him.

Also, this season he played as 6 a few times too, did good. As LB once too, did good enough too.

Most versatile defender of his generation.

Let's get a sporting director first, otherwise all the talks of possible transfers/agreements are meaningless as there will be nobody to facilitate any of that.

Don't know how likely it is to poach 1 players from PSG, let alone 2, but if possible those 2 are the ones.

I also think Pogba needs to be monitored as well. There's another young talented midfielder. Imagine a future midfield of Verratti, Pogba and Samper. Secured the middle for half a dozen years with youth and talent.

He is reportedly on Bayern's watch list.

Don't need a Sports Lawyer to tell you that Barcelona can make a deal with BVB behind the doors about Reus staying there for another season(which they really need IMO) if the player agrees to it.

You're not buying or loaning any player. There's no papers signed, it's just a Gentlemen's agreement between the two respective clubs.

Reus would otherwise leave in summer anyway(if he decides to leave which does seem very possible) for the same fee. Why not have him, a vital player for them for another season instead? Meanwhile you could buy a replacement and slowly slot him in Reus' position too and integrate him in the team so he's ready to go all guns blazing when M.R has left.

Pogba will go Madrid mostly (could be a possible galactico), he will fit there perfectly i think. I don't see barca ever making a move for him. Pogba, Verrati and Samper is a damn good midfield but i would like a player of iniesta calibre in a midfield trio, a player like halilovic or rafinha. A player who can act as an extra attacker.
