We should aim for Mustafi. Pay 40-50M if need to be. Masch will be 32 next season. Pique is also nearing 30. Get Mustafi and rotate among those 3. Sell Vermalen and Bartra.

Yes, you're right about Rakitic. And 25M for Kroos is a bargain nowadays too for a player of his quality. That was because he wanted to leave and go to Madrid only. The same for Rakitic and Barça. That's kind of players we should target in the future too IMO. Players whose contracts are running out in a year and who are only willing to join us. I know probably 99% players who are not hardcore Madridistas would love to play here but they should also be willing to take salary cut (like Mathieu) or do something else to show they only want to join us. Not players who would go to us, RM or City, whoever offered them more.

I think we don't need midfielder this season (except for bringing back Denis) but if there is really some way to get Oliver I'd be all over it. I just love this kid and am sorry to see that Simeone just keeps ignoring him. I don't think he'll be cheap though. Atletico would probably rather sell him to a club like BVB (they were already interested in him in January) for less than to us.

I know we don't need a midfielder right now, I already mentioned that a couple of times. Our priorities are at LB, CB and a back-up for MSN.

Rakitic in Sevilla was playing as 10, right behind the striker. He was also not much of a creator, more like universal attacking midfiedler able to shoot and score from distance. His passing and creating was never that great. So the problem is that in Barca in 4-3-3 half of his best attributes (shooting,scoring) are wasted. Gundogan on the other side was never much of a scorer, however his passing and ball control is better than Rakitic, he'd fit much better our 4-3-3 formation and can even back Busqets reasonably well.
