We weren't that good when we had little or no rivals on the market. And now with much richer epl clubs, PSG, China even we not lost power in the market, it is also much harder to match contracts.

Is he going to sign for Espanyol?

anyway, pretty much every CB bar Marquinhos seems to only play CB or it's a 'can play' type of deal where you don't know how good they'll be elsewhere.

I'd go with Bailly. He played well at both RB and LB against both Madrid clubs. Of course, we don't know how he'd work as fullback in our system and I wouldn't really have him as our 2nd option at either RB/LB spot, but I think he could play there if neccessary. Certainly can't be worse than Adriano and Douglas.

If we are going with a supposed 60M transfer budget, that's what I'd do.

- of course we'll bring back Denis
- Bailly around 20-25M or we could get that price down if we loan them one of our youngsters like Halilovic, Samper and/or Munir
- Gameiro around 20M (I'd rather pay them couple millions more than let Emery ruin some of our youngsters)
- for LB I don't have a favourite but I think we should get a solid option there for around 15-20M as well

Then for the money we'll get from selling players (Bartra, Vermaelen, Adriano, Sandro) I'd also buy 2 players for the future like Mere (and loan him out) and we are also linked to Kuki Zalazar for our B team. If we have some money left I'd consider signing someone like Bazoer and let him on loan at Ajax for another season (this could probably reduce his price a bit), if he's willing to do that. Though not my prefered option we could also give Ajax some of our youngsters on loan if they want or include Sandro in deal. I think Eredivisie would probably be good for him to get regular playing time and get his career back on track.

I don't think we really need another CM unless we get a really good offer for Arda we can't refuse. If we sell him I'd go for Saul.

Very talentend player but I don't like his mentality.
Affelay 2.0 is coming. We are so bad at buying players, this is absolutely incredible.

Yes, we are so bad to buy players like Neymar, Suarez, Rakitic, MAtS,...

And I don't get why you are complaining about Afellay. We got him for 3M and for me he did justify his transfer with that assist to Messi against RM. And I think he could do a lot more if he wasn't that injury prone. Certainly not one of our transfers that we should really complain about.

Yeah you're right, Douglas, Vermaelen, Henrique, Chygrynski... none of them are flops.
You should have a look at the amount of money we threw away in useless transfers before coming at me with such bullshit.
How can a player justify 3 millions euros in one assist ? Do you have an idea of how much money it is ? I don't think so. You didn't even think about the wages the club payed him during all these years, definitely more than 3m euros.

Think about his wages. No club think about transfers in terms of transfer fee only. 3m+....a gazillion in wages (probably 20m+) for nothing. Just like Verma. I do agree that others like Chygrynskiy, Ibra, Keirrison, Song, Hleb, Douglas and Henrique were even worse though.

starting to feel like barca may be following that milan route soon enough, the management is an absolute joke at scouting players.

We'll be the next Milan if we're not careful once our current first XI need replacing. All because we're fucking useless in the transfer market and we no longer have youth coming through or the big bucks to spend to bail us out with a Suarez or Neymar every couple of years.

It'll be Adel Taarabt and Mario Balotelli next.

No we weren't but we had La Masia which gave us top players for free. Now we've got Munir and Sandro.

For free? I'd take the gamble. .

He wouldn't be free though would he? This is Barca so he'd get an extremely lucrative contract (more so because he's out of contract) and we'd give him a 5 year deal so we're stuck with him till he's 34 keeping Adriano company on the bench.

I don´t think his wages were that high and he was loaned out a lot.

Wages are always higher when the transfer fee is low because of bosman/expiring contract. And we paid the wages when we loaned him out. No club is willing to pay our sky high wages for someone like him.

Why are do people talk as though we're the only ones with failed transfers? It's not a science!

Man Utd could publish a line of books on how to be shit in the market. Signed copies by ed woodward

No, you're completely right, he should ONLY come here, if he'd accept a 1 year contract with ZERO wages or sign-on fee, right? Because that's how football works...

We are definitely bad, because we dont buy players with sell-on value. Any flop we sign is just a big, fat drain on the budget for years and years to come. And we continue to double down on this strategy. Recently with Arda for example. Why we continue down that path, who knows. The mind blowing thing is that we seem to be pretty good at scouting 10 year olds and 13 year olds for La Masia. But everything just comes to a complete halt at the senior level. Its embarrassing when we show interest in a player as soon as he is signed by a rich club. It reeks of incompetence.

Too much pathetic crying going on in this thread. Yeah, yeah, we get it, we'll be worse off than Milan in the span of a few seasons... Ridiculous
