Wow i wish that Newcastle fan was still on the Forum.
Don´t think that Valencia would just sell Alcacer for cheap so Gameiro and Perez are more realistic and i thought we were done with Nolito?

Sevilla is demanding 40m for Gameiro. Not 15m. Nolito? He is a left winger. I dont see the point in buying another left winger. I thought the whole point was to buy someone as Suarez backup? I think this is the same type of mentality we used when buying Arda and Vidal. We have to keep in mind that it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, so we must expect a long adaptation period from any oldie we buy and they might never adapt. That they will fit in right away because they are old is not a given. For example, Sevilla plays very differently than us. Will Gameiro function well in Barca? He didnt in PSG. I think we are looking at someone 30+ if we are to get someone for 15m that is decent.

If we splash the cash big time on a CB, then wouldnt it make more sense that this big outlay is versatile so he can play more games?

Gameiro has 2 years on his contract and there's been talks of 20 million. No way will it be as high as 40. Wouldn't fear his skillset in our team if Suarez isn't there. I'm not saying he's a certainty to come to us, of course not, but it's certainly not impossible.

As for the CB versatility thing, not necessarily. Masche is old, and as good as he's been isn't guaranteed his starting spot. It's the obvious position we have to reinforce with some dependable players, because Bartra and Verm certainly don't fall under that category, and people have doubts over Mathieu before his injury. More than other position, it's the one that was absolutely HAVE to get right.

anyway, pretty much every CB bar Marquinhos seems to only play CB or it's a 'can play' type of deal where you don't know how good they'll be elsewhere.

2 years on his contract means nothing. 1 year left is what matters. Gameiro for 20m isnt happening. We bought Vidal for 20m and he is very far from as important for Sevilla as Gameiro. 40m was what they demanded in the latest reports I've seen. This for a guy who hasnt been a starter for years in both Sevilla and PSG until this season at 29. We should stay away from players who suddenly has a great season at 29 years old. They are not likely to adapt easily at all IMO.

Masche is 32, but Alves is 33 and Iniesta is 32 as well, and it is Masche who is having the best season out of those three.

Best midfielder around
Rather not risk it. It's all good now that he got a team that's built around him and a coach that doesn't care about his attitude in training sessions etc.
You take him here and it doesn't work out be sure that he will be ruin our season with his toxic presence in the dressing room.

For free? I'd take the gamble. I can't see how a fringe player who's low in the hierarchy could ruin much tbh. If he started acting up, he'd just be frozen out of the squad, and that'd be it.

My main reservation is the fact that he really doesn't suit the profile of a real striker, which we're apparently looking for. He'd be a fun watch on the field, though, and if he worked out well, could actually have a few brilliant years here.

I'd take Ben Arfa for free to be honest with you. He's going to be a good back up and we need to spend money only on his wages. Doubt he'll choose us, though, I'm sure there is a Chinese team that is starting to put up a crazy contract for him. And btw, if Suarez is injured (please no GOD) we can play Messi in CF like good ol' days. Plus, Denis and Rafinha both can play on the wings. What we need to concentrate our transfer target is a young CB who is going to lead our Defensive line with Pique. I would try for Gimenez (what's his release clause?), Marquinhos if it is possible or Mustafi from Valencia. Out of those 3 I think Marquinhos suits us better cause he's better on the ball, but either of those 3 I believe will be a success.
