If Messi had that penalty against Chelsea in the 8th minute like Ozil did, he would have scored. A lot more pressure in that situation. 0-0 taking a penalty in the first half is far different from 2-1 in the 2nd half when your team needs another goal. Plus Messi hit the post, Ozil's penalty on the other hand was poor.

Most importantly, Messi wouldn't render himself completely invisible after that, he'd try extra hard to make up for it.

Ozil is a great player and all but with Iniesta in the squad, makes no sense.

Ozil is a great player but I would question the mental side of the game as he doesn't seem to be tough enough. But he is an excellent player and if it were to be a straight swap with Cesc then it would be good for both clubs but only if we were to sign another midfield player like Koke or Torres, Ozil on his own would not work for us.

But a Masch, Busi, Iniesta, Rafina, Xavi, Koke, Ozil midfield would have extraordinary depth and talent which is what we need, but I don't know how realistic that would be.

As for the other rumours, Bravo would be an excellent choice for a No. 2, I think with him in goal instead of Pinto we could have won La Liga and maybe the cup not sure about the Champions League but I think we could have got past Atletico with a good keeper.

Mathieu is a good solid CB who would add strength and depth to our defense and though he would not be first choice by any means would certainly add to the squad. His buyout is £20m which is far too much so if we can get him for around £10m then that would be a good signing.

Koke had a wonderful season but there is always the risk that he would not fit into our system, but unless a player comes from La Masia then that will always be there. He is young, Spanish, knows La Liga and the Barca players from the national team and has proven he can play at the top level. I think he is as sure a thing as we are going to get, but £60m is far too much so Zubi better have improved his negotiation skills.

Kun would be perfect if not for his injury problems, but I would still take him in a heartbeat. I would prefer Reus though but Kun would still be an excellent purchase.

Don't know anything about Cuadrado.

Last year everyone wanted Marquinhos, now not so much. But he is still the same player who has all the attributes needed to be a top class defender so if we can get a good price then we should go for it.

Bah, posted this in the wrong thread. Here I go again, sorry:

Wondering if we could get Hummels if we offered Dortmund a deal of around 35-40m. It'd easily be worth it, in my opinion one of the best CBs in the world, and I think he fits Barca perfectly. Isn't he a Barcafan as well? I recall that he posted a picture of him and his girlfriend with barcakit in the background last summer (Piques shirt).

I think it's very strange that we're not being linked with him (though I can hope we're working on getting him without the press having a clue). He's one of the top CBs in the world I think we actually could get, and on top of that, getting another player from Germany could help Stegen settle.

If we end up getting a 30 year old (31 in october next season) Mathieu from Valencia instead, I'll officially have lost all faith in Zubi.

A 31 year old is better than nothing thinking of next summers transfer ban. A defender can perform at 31-32-33. But not for 20m + taxes.

TalkSport radio suggesting a straight swap - Cesc for Ozil is possible and would suit ALL both players and clubs . I can see this happening .

That would be just stupid!
1- Selling Cesc to buy Ozil doesn't make sense, We need a CM who can rotate/replace Xavi! Cesc out, Koke In might make some sense (for the right price).
ex: Cesc out for 45-50m, Koke In for 35-40m.

2- Cesc is better than Ozil!

Ozil is faster than Cesc and has the same attributes, he can dribble very well and very good final third player with vision and passing so could play on the wing vs a parked bus. He could also rotate with iniesta.

I was against it before but if it's a straight swap I'd take it.

Ozil is very inconsistent! Also, he's just a 60min player. Get tired quickly!
Cesc is better, and deal makes ZERO sense. We should focus on buying 2 defender and someone who can replace/rotate with Xavi!

Crap tweets tbh

Don't know why Flavia values his opinions so much. He keeps ranting about Javi Martinez and that Barca didn't buy him from Athletic Bilbao. Seems he didn't get the memo how Bayern had to pay the money directly to the LFP and exploit around the additional tax issue with a bunch of specialist lawyers because Athletic's president refused to negotiate. As if Barca would come up with such a hostile bid. And even then - € 40M + taxes for what? Another makeshift CB / DM backup? LOL

He also keeps ranting why Barca didn't buy Agüero from Atletico. Guess he didn't get the memo either that Pep himself was against him and opted for Sanchez instead because "Agüero is too similar to Messi".

Ozil is NOT a great player. He is good at best-nowhere near great. He fades in hard games and is mentally soft. I will take D Suarez and Rafinha over him anyday.

We need a strong, physical box-box midfielder. We have enough creativity-we need more PHYSICALITY and better finishing upfront. A good number 9 and a box-box mf. First priority though is CB.

Why haven't we done the legwork on a CB? Its not as if Zubi couldn't do it. Look at MATS-Zubi did his homework and sealed the deal some time ago. This was obvious regarding a CB too. We needed one THREE seasons ago!

Thats a joke..Ozil is by far the most useless player we should sign....We need a physical and strong 9 like Vidal( Real is after him)

According to The Telegraph, Man City are favourites to sign Cesc. If Lucho really want to offload him and also really want Aguero to be the mobile #9 he wants then they should seriously consider to propose a swap deal, Cesc Fabregas goes to Man City (if he is willing ofc) And Sergio Aguero joins us.

Kill two birds with one stone, although it may not be very likely to materialize.

There is one more thing though.... replace Cesc with whom?

Koke or Rakitic?
Surely they have some players on their minds if we really sell him.

I can't believe people are thinking of ozil as cesc replacement.Cesc is anyday better than ozil.If this happens than this will be the worst deal by our board in a long tim
