I didn't say he was crap i said he isnt a great striker as he doesn't score enough!Mate not a chance he is value for money at 25 million seriously take off the blue tinted specs for a second..he is Ji Sung Park with just a little bit more end product would you pay 20 million for Park?

He is a decent signing for you lot but hand on heart I'm glad to see the back of him and i would rather Owen then Tevez as Owen does what a striker should do Tevez doesn't but thats just my opinion

Fergie wouldn't of tried to sign him if he didn't think he was worth the money.

"I would rather Owen then Tevez" :rofl1: Is that why Fat Sam didn't even want him ?

I have no doubt that Owen will score goals for you, but Tevez is undoubtedly the better player. You are the one who's wearing the tinted glasses.

The point is, that argument isn't really valid when it comes to City because they don't need to care about cash. So if they were interested in Park for 20mill (say), any other club would go "is he value for money" but all City have to think is (1)- Is he an improvement to what we currently have, (2)- Is he realistically attainable, and Tevez fits that. They probably do negotiate and try to keep it reasonable but if pushed, they wouldn't bat an eyelid at shelling out 20m for a squad player.

EDIT: To Canto

actually what he said was he'd rather have owen for free than tevez for 25 mil.

come on, ducky, you're better than this.

and big sam didn't want him because he needs a striker than can play 40+ games a season and lead the line for his club. that is not michael owen. there's also a school of thought that he was trying to ward interest in owen off allowing fergie time to speak to him. but I dunno about that.

Look at Metas post for your answer on that one ;)

Fat Sam didn't want him because he needed a first choice striker we didn't and Owen wouldn't suit the game Fat Sam tries to play anyway which is long ball up top to a big target man

Where did i say he wasn't the better player? But I'd rather goals from my strikers, besides we have Rooney and Berbatov who are both supieroiur(sp?) players to Tevez so thats why i would rather Owen who just cares about putting the ball into the net and with Ronaldo gone we needed a player like that

He had a stop, start season last year because of Berbatov. When he had a run in the team in his first year he scored about 14 goals in 34 games.

I just can't stand it when United fans say they don't even rate him.

If all these United fans don't rate him, then who was singing "Fergie sign him up!" ?

to quote fergie "the fans love a trier" they chanted like that for alan smith because he gave 110% and scored a few big goals for united too. would you pay 25m for alan smith? the united fans I've noticed will fall madly in love with anyone who puts in extra amounts of effort. this could just be a recent phenomenon borne as a reaction to ronaldo's workshy brilliance.

the united fans did rate him in 07/08. if you asked them to put their hand on their heart if he was worth 25m in 08/09 most would say he wasn't. they chanted that because, as I said, they loved his work ethic especially when compared to the stroppy ronaldo. of course ronaldo knuckled down and got on with shit, tevez was out in the open trying to turn the fans against the boss, which is just career suicide IMO and why they've all been very quick to turn on him. ronaldo for all his strops left the club in a dignified manner and gave them a wad of cash in the process. tevez left kicking and screaming and now he's gone is STILL kicking and screaming like a little bitch. I've no doubt kia is a horrible influence but it's not good to see. he could have gone down a united legend, really.

as for blaming berbatov for tevez's inability to perform, well, that's bollocks. berba delivered the goods when he started. tevez didn't and whenever he got a run in the team he failed to impress (and I really wanted him to impress coz a number of reds I knew were saying he sucked, and I was saying just give him time). he was always at his best coming off the bench and harassing tired defences.

Tevez was on the bench even if he had played well the game before. So he didn't really get a good run in the team.

People seem to measure Tevez on how many goals he scores, but he brings more than that to the team. He wins the ball back in important areas, which puts pressure on the oppositions defence.

It doesn't really matter if he's worth 25 million, it really isn't important to our owners.

He's an improvement to our team, therefore he's a good signing.

That's what I said earlier on.

that was once (when he battered blackburn in the league cup and was benched for the league game) it wasn't a pattern because he rarely delivered from the start.

yeah and that's all well and good (and I do think he'll be a great signing for city) but stop acting like you've got some almighty coup by stealing a world-class player from a top club. it's annoying.

Tevez scores important goals. But not with regularity which is his problem but yeah he will turn out to be an OK signing in the end.

Come on Meta, I don't think you realise what Tevez meant to those United fans.

I also don't think you get the feeling of how good it feels to rob a quality player off your biggest rivals.
