It's why we need a striker up there for these games. Putting Messi on the wings makes sure Marcelo stays back and also draws out Ramos from his dm position. So it was a good decision by Martino.

I'd rather use alexis or pedro to push back fullbacks than messi who clearly needs to be in the middle in order to be more involved

Did you guys see Cesc's running ability has been reduced to that of a 40 year old!

Messi was on a 2 vs 3 situation and Messi looks up wide open left wing Neymar marked on the right. Messi leaves a soft pass for Cesc to catch up to and Cesc only starts running after the pass is made. Lazy prick Cesc. He can be so brilliant but so damn lazy at times. I want to see him in the midfield only enough of this trying to accommodate all 3 Xavi Iniesta Cesc crap.

Cesc should only play in the midfield as an attacking midfielder. Rotate with Iniesta/Xavi.
When Tata wants Messi to play on the RW, Alexis or even Pedro should play in the middle of the front lineup!
