Maybe because Cesc played as a false 9? It's a no brainer that he doesn't work at that position.

Have you even watched last 2 games against Atletico ?

In the first game in the CL as soon as Cesc came of the field , I was shocked of how good we were playing. We looked like we could trash Bayern and Real with no problems. The moment I've seen on twitter that Cesc is going to start , again , vs Atletico in the second leg , I rushed to my local betting agency and bet 100 euros on Atletico to win .

We were a goal down in first place because of xavi escorting diego to a free shot.

 If that was a "free shot" at that distance, Barcelona could take 50-60 of those per game. All props to Diego's excellent technique, but that was a "Hail Mary" shot that had the ridiculous good fortune to win the lottery that one time. Blaming Xavi (or Pinto, or anybody) for that goal is baseless. Diego spun the roulette wheel, and won.

catalinutz on his way to his local betting company as we speak, investing his entire belongings (about € 200). :coffee:

I honestly now think he's just another victim from bad tactics. He was doing more defensive work than anything else, and this is probably the reason why he started.

Ursegor, it's all set up for you to have a field day today. Looking forward to DAT Cesc hate.

Normally I would be all over him right now but even in my infinite Cesc hate I can't ignore how bad Tata's "tactics" are. This team can't keep the ball in any meaningful area of the pitch anymore. Even Messi and Iniesta look like turds. When Atletico were behind and had an incentive to attack and came forward we couldn't keep the ball for 3 seconds. The lack of any sort of shape could already be observed against Ajax or Athletic Bilbao earlier this season. But back then I thought it's just a transition and the team will get used to Tata's tactics. Looks like he's simply clueless. Glad he's officially gone. Getting rid of him is like a trophy tbh.

That shot to go in had to be perfect, and if Xavi would have presses him just a little bit, he probably wouldn't have made such a great shot. But then again, all I am doing is guessing and who knows, maybe it would still have been a goal..

Have we ruined fabregas? Fabregas at arsenal was one of the best players ive ever seen. Fabregas at barcelona is not even a good player, he doesnt do anything.

Hes a central midfielder, he needs to play in that position every game

Problem is, when we put him in midfield position, next to Iniesta, he starts playing further up then any striker in the world. He just cant stay where he should be.

Cesc is not a CM, nor a CF, and we dont play with a player behind those two positions, closest is Iniesta and Iniesta is 2x as good at it.
So theres really no spot for Cescs playstyle in the team.

Cesc is overshadowed by Iniesta in the dribbling, ballcontrol and speed department, and in the passing, playmaking and ballcontrol department by Xavi. He might be a little bit better at finishing and headers, but thats not really what we need him for.

Yeah, he's an AM, but Iniesta is just so much better. I'd prefer he be sold and Rafinha given more time, which won't be a problem with Lucho coming.

I'm not disappointed with him starting. To be honest, I think it was a good and brave call by Tata. Xavi would have given us nothing but sideways passes, absolutely no attacking effort whatsoever, lack of defensive effort, in a game where we needed to win. His idea was probably to start Cesc and grab a lead, then bring Xavi on for control if we're leading.
