when?,wasn't a regular starter in midfield for any of spain's wins, doubt he won anything with arsenal.
which leaves last season with us, where he was meh and usual.

cesc in midfield=death of your team. maybe he can win something in the epl in that position while playing well.

Koke is more defensively astute, a much harder worker, a better passer overall (other than through-balls), is a better dribbler, great at indirect set pieces, is much more tactically aware, and is 100% more consistent. To top it all off, he's done that against the biggest and toughest teams and then some. All at the age of 22. He's thrived and become a leader in Atletico under Simeone and whenever he plays with the NT (youth or senior) he fits in seamlessly into a technical game due to his movement and ability to click into passing tempo. He's played in every midfield position you could name and even as a RB once for Spain.

Cesc is a useful player because he can score and he can assist. However he does nothing contributory in buildup and his qualities always shine against the Mallorca's or the Rayo's of the world. His game is very limited overall and that's easy to see when he takes a shitter against 2/3 types of opposition and can't muster up any form in the 2nd half of the season (when we need our players to step up the most). A Barca team built with having Cesc as a starter would be very flawed and bite us in the ass in a lot of important games.

The VdB thing doesn't really make sense either as Cesc is about 5 years older than him.

But yeah, Koke's not coming either way. Atletico don't need to sell, Barca's not gonna make him one of the most expensive players in club history, and the amount of times he's said that he's staying at Atleti ranges around the double digits.

You do realize that Fabregas also did it against the toughest teams before we signed him . His set pieces were also way better than Koke's, we just have a hierarchy at Barca and Messi and Xavi deliver all the set pieces. If you think he would come to Barca and take our set pieces that's deluded. Ill remind you that most games we literally have Pique as our only target. Cesc as one of the few decent headers is usually in the box trying to win those headers instead of delivering the ball as he would at any other normal club. There is a difference between delivering for Godin, Miranda, Costa, Adebayor, Van Persie, Vermaelen and coming to Barca where you have no targets.

Koke is not a better passer and statistically his pass completion turnovers and times dispossessed are worse than Fabregas at both Arsenal/ Barca and the Spanish national team. Emotional attachment to Barca games means that mistakes our players make stand out mre to us than when we watch players at other clubs who arent playing in rigid systems. Therefore, its funny people think Koke will automatically be able to iron out the flaws in his game at Barca when it could easily end up just like Wenger being the one to get the best out of Fabregas only this time in the form of Simeone.

has any team with cesc national or club ever won trophies with him starting in midfield

Arsenal got to the CL finals but didn't win though
In euro 2008, he wasn't a starter and Spain started the competion with a 4-4-2 formation (with Senna & Xavi in the midfield). But he later became a starter if i'm not mistaken as Spain moved towards a 4-3-3 formation as the competition went on. And he was part of the euro 11 list of the competition.

Spain win euro 2008 with cesc in midfield in 4-1-4-1 formation...

So the 1st half of the season where he was Barca's best player (with Messi out injured & Iniesta not showing up) doesn't count for anything right?
Don't forget that all the points Barca gained from that very good 1st half of the season is the reason why towards the end of the season (despite the team having played badly in the 2nd half of the season), Barca was still in a position to win the league..

Fabregas is with Xavi Iniesta and Casillas the only player from Spain to be in the last two team of the tournaments at the European championships. People can downplay his contributions all they like but it will just be personal feelings and not objectivity.

There's also euro 2012 where they won with him in mid in a 4-6-0. He was key in the World Cup with his game changing contributions in midfield.
