Mata was benched but he was also Chelseas player of the year in the previous two seasons and the fans loved him. Chelsea were not desperate to sell him, the desperation came from Man Utd in buying him.

Ozil was a starter and one of the top players in the Real team and a fans favourite who was not desperate to leave.

That's the thing, we shouldn't be desperate to sell him so we don't need to fold at this low of a bid. Both of those cases show the player forcing the club's hand yet the club still walks away with an amazing transfer fee despite being in a position of submission.
