Cesc Fàbregas

Cesc is great, fans should support him now instead of blaming him which won't help the team!
Its simple, we need to play with 3 forwards but rotate more between Xavi/Cesc/Thiago and Iniesta! (2 of them on the pitch).
We have 60+ games a season!

Not really, would rather have a proper midfielder or proper striker then something in between taking up others space

It is something I want to say for a long time and it applies not only in Cesc's transfer but in every major transfer..I cannot understand why the fans obsess about the amount of money that is paid. Especially a club like Barcelona, despite some debts is a financially healthy organisation (has profits). Why bother about how much we pay? Is Afellay a better transfer than Dani Alves just because he was a bargain? Do you prefer to pay let's say 30 million for the Ukranian Jesus or 50 for Thiago Silva or 70 for Varane? Or 5 for Botia?Anyway, I don't think that fans and especially the the coaching stuff should care about how much the team payed for a player, especially since in Barcelona's case this does not affect the ticket prices or the financial stability of the club. It is strange to mention the price when talking about a player's performance because it is completely irrelevant. I mean, is C. Ronaldo playing good enough for 120millions? I believe yes. Is Kaka playing well for 10millions? I believe no.

For me Fabregas has been third best performer in the league after Messi and Iniesta, should feature against Rayo.

Why, though? Was it because he's seen as someone who left when things got tough, but "came home" when titles were being won left and right? Or just that he wasn't there for the historic wins, and hasn't earned the respect of the fans yet?

He doesn't fit the 'system' the way people want him to. People want a Xavi replica which won't happen. Also people are upset that Iniesta has been moved to the wing to allow Cesc to play.

In time Xavi will decline with age and Cesc will have the chance to prove himself in the middle.

It's relevant, and in the end it does have an effect on ticket prices. The club does not have an unlimited cash reserve and it has to be able to pay what it owes. The question is: could the money have been better spent? Perhaps. Would the club have, if they didn't go for Cesc? Perhaps not.

The thing is that the player himself is not to blame for his price tag, so those complaints should be directed at the club directives... Obviously, good players cost more, but it was the club directives who decided to shell out the cash...

Now, the coaching staff requested his transfer and they are yet to find a system where they can get the best out of him game in game out, so isn't there some responsibility too? They asked for a 40 million player and have no clue what to do with him...

His main duty as a midfielder in FCB is not scoring. For example, Fabregas was playing really poor in the last year's la liga classico which ended 1-3. Yes, he scored that header but he failed in his main duty. He is not suitable to our tiki-taka posession game. He wants to play an AMC role as in Arsenal. However this is Barcelona. We do not play with a free AMC. Both of our midfielders have defensive duties. In terms of defensive positioning, controlling possession under pressure Fabregas always fails. Thiago is actually better than him in these areas.

Since we do not play AMC, Fabregas suits false nine role in this team. However, currently we have the best false-9 of all time in our squad. Fabregas can't produce like Messi in false nine. The difference between Barcelona and Spanish national team is this.

So he is a back-up for small games. When it matters, he was always benched. Pep benched him in Chelsea game at home. Tito benched him in Milan game at home. Is this a coincedence?

:coffee: Firstly, Cesc started the Chelsea game at home. He had a backheel which Messi should have scored as well as won the penalty that...Messi should have scored. Scapegoating Cesc or any player because we failed to beat a side with ten men and Bosingwa :)lol:) as a CB is silly. If anything, Guardiola bringing on Keita when we needed creativity and width is one of the more baffling subs of his tenure. We had Pedro and Thiago on the bench and he brought on Keita. We lost to a side with Bosinga, Kalou and Torres and the only problem some people see is Cesc. Cahill and terry went off and we still couldnt win. Drogba gifted us a penalty and we still couldnt win. Thank you for resurfacing that awful game in my mind again on this glorious day.

People fail to realize that football is a business and not a fairy tale. Fabregas had a future in the game when he was here earlier and he left because it was best for his career. He made his name, honed his Barca discovered talent at Arsenal and returned again because it was best for his career. The trouble with his integration is not his problem but the managements. Even then after his first season, he was 2nd best to Messi in terms of crucial stats. He's done well this season too. It's clear to see that he's committed to the cause and is working his socks off.

We can't blame the last three defeats on him alone. Yes, he was not missed last night but he was replaced by some of the best footballers of not just this generation but of all time. On top o f that these players are at their peak in terms of experience and skill.

For the people saying he hinders Thiago... Has Thiago not impressed this season just like the last? Does he not seem to get better with every game? Yes? Then what is your issue?

I think a one of the reasons Fabregas was signed when he was was to prevent Madrid from getting him. The management wanted him as Xavi's successor and although he mightn't have necessarily been needed so soon, they had to sign him then because otherwise Madrid would have been knocking on Arsenal's door rather enthusiastically. They probably knew there would be a couple of seasons where he would be played out of position or rotated but lets be fair to the guy, he has done very well given the circumstances. His goals and assists return has been exceptional for a guy who's role in the team still isn't certain. We wont see him fully flourish until Xavi retires, so we cant truly judge him until then.

There is just no way he's getting sold. Unless he wants which I don't think will happen any time soon. He's an important piece in the team and will be more vital each day.
