cesc doesnt play one of the most important match this season and we won convincingly. now its his fault that we lost to madrid or were out of form???
alexis plays 2 good games in a row and almost everyone wants him to stay???

I'm pretty much sure he and alexis both will be very useful for us in the future.

The Cesc left for money blablabla apart, people seem to forget he paid from his pocket to come back. And he is working hard, he's not here on vacation.

Messi almost left the club as well. His performance on the gamper in 2005 prevented it from happening, but he almost went to espanyol, of all clubs. Now imagine THAT, huh?

I can almost imagine some would not want Messi back for being a traitor and leaving, if that had happened

I have not been following the club for long. Can you fill me in in the Messi situation? Was there suspicion that he wanted to leave due to not getting playing time?

Looking at Cesc now, he still needs to learn a lot about leadership and generally about carrying himself on the pitch before we can rely on him as much as we do with Xavi and Iniesta. I dunno, I may be talking shit but I often get a feeling that he doesn't really try hard enough and doesn't sacrifice himself for the team as much as say Busquets.
I don't think that's the issue. He's been running 13K a game, more than anyone else in the team. It's just that his positional sense is lacking compared to the others in the squad. Although you need to see him live to really see. Deco had a reputation of being a bit of slack, but when I saw him live against Depor his defensive movement was actually really really good.

Cesc doesn't try hard enough? (my most used smilie)

As far as I can see Cesc is just behind Messi & possibly Iniesta in players getting rough treatment from the opposition. The guy is always getting fouled. Yet he "doesn't sacrifice himself for the team"???

I suggest that for a relatively simple catch-up you read: "Barca: The making of the greatest team in the world." In short, at the very beginning of his time at Barca, there was slow progress in terms of contracts etc. From what I gather this wasn't really a big deal. Then there was talk of Iniesta and Messi being loaned to Celtic. There was no issue with Messi being angry at the club or anything.

I still don't understand all the fuss. Xavi is not going to be here forever.
Thiago is not looking ready to take the starting place yet either.

Having said that we should stick with Xavi-Iniesta midfield and stop trying to fit every midfielder in starting 11.

You can fault Cesc for many things if you want to, but not working hard enough is probably not one of them. I'm pretty sure that Cesc is one of the hardest working guys in the team. And it probably has a lot to do with the fact that he's been getting a lot of stick from the public, and has to continually prove himself to the coach, the staff, the fans etc. I remember reading somewhere recently that he's always the first guy to show up for practice, and the last guy to leave. He lost a lot of weight before the start of the season, as well. The only Barca player I'd bet on to be a harder working player than Cesc is Puyol.

Thiago should be ready by the time he needs to be. Xavi still has a good season or two in him.
And I agree with that last statement. Xavi-Iniesta in midfield with Villa up front is what works best.

Started playing pretty brightly after Iniesta went off, but before that was invisible. Not really sure why, he was in great form a short while ago.

Poor match from Cesc. I don't understand what's happening to him. Last season was the same; great first half of the season, poor in the 2nd.
