While I never liked Beckham's one trick game or the media obsession with him I respected him as a hard working pro even as a dirty Madridista scum but the flakiness of the LA Galaxy/Milan saga made me lose a lot of respect for him. I don't blame him for wanting to leave LA as the move was always destined to be a mistake but he didn't handle the situation with the dignity you would expect from the self-proclaimed saviour of American soccer.

to be honest, I don't think he feels LA is a mistake (I reckon he'll go back there after the world cup and stay there). it's more that don fabio won't pick him if he's not playing, and due to scheduling he thus hasta move back to europe for the spring.

it wasn't handled very well, though. a PR disaster. but that's coz he was dealing with galliani and berlusconi. :D

Also Vargas and Ibra should have a manliness competition, that would make the universe explode in awesomeness.

vidic would have to get involved for it to be an ultimate battle of machismo.

but it would be so awesome.

LOL at Dragutinovic's OG!! I still think Sevilla could give anyone a game tbh, at home they're awesome and could beat anyone.

Funny, I remember you calling Fiorentina a small club before, I thought you agreed with Gio's philosophy that clubs with "winning cultures" always beat the commoners no matter what?

In all seriousness though this is a blessing in disguise for Liverpool, I think you can finally get rid of Rafa Benitez after this season and finally start building something.

1) Fiorentina are a small club - that is without question how can anyone say they are not?

2) Clubs with winning cultures always finds a way to come back from adversity whilst others do not. That is an extreme simplistic example but ask Gio for an in depth review.

They already qualified, Sevilla had a horrible, disgraceful joke of a group but their style is very fitting for Europe and they should be able to hold their own.

Then you should start fearing Nottingham Forest soon.

small?

medium, maybe.

they're never small, though.

sevilla have already qualified, so they obv. weren't in truly top gear. I dunno though, I think they're too inconsistent for their own good. they need to be awesome every time they play, really. and if they have just a few injuries their quality drops hugely.

Fiorentina are a small club, they may be better right now, but they will be back to nothing in 5 years time.

Yeh Unirea were always going to be playing with more effort tonight. Sevilla will destroy Rangers at home probably and win the group. When on form they play at a tempo and intensity that will unsettle a lot of teams IMO. Semi's ain't a bad bet chucka.

they are no big clubs in the world except for barcelona and real. every player's dream is to play for one of these teams. they always buy high and sell low cause these two clubs are at the pinnacle of club soccer.

i want anyone to dispute this claim of mine.

I can't because you are right it is every players dream to play for those clubs. That is why out of the major leagues in europe they have total dominance.

Fiorentina has a modest trophy cabinet, have been competitive in virtually every decade of their existance, were one of the "Seven Sisters" in the 90's, bounced back from bankruptcy to return to being competitive in a few years, have a modest global fanbase and have had some of the greatest players of virtually every generation play for them. Not exactly a giant of world football, but very much in the same league as the likes of Napoli, Valencia, etc.

This is true.

I want justifiable reasons as to why fiorentina are a medium sized club. Seriously please tell me.

how about the fact that the club basically died due to financial problems but came back?

and not only did they come back into existence, but they then got promoted back to serie 'a' and then the champions league where they knocked out 5 times winners liverpool in the group stages.

or how about their commitment to open and attacking football?

or how about their development/showcasing of top talent like toni, vargas, mutu, gilardino, jovetic, etc.?

?

they're not a big club, but they're not small, either.
