Only Messi and sometimes Suarez are lost cases in this laziness.

Rest of the players move rather well lately.

Dembele, Busquets, Rakitic are often caught ball watching and waiting for the ball rather than moving to receive it in a better position. Roberto, Semedo, Alba make so many good runs that are wasted by them way too often.

Not lately. Lately Busi and Rakitic have been very good. Demebele is just inconsistent.

We'll see how we show up vs Lyon. That will be telling imo.

1. Real lost Zidane
2. Real lost CR7
3. Real lost goals in the last 10 minutes from CR7
4. Real lost a part of their attacking options with goals with feet and headers (CR7 and Benzema), they are attacking through the ground now and can't score shit.

But anyway, after reading DonAk's and similar posts, I see that a climate here is currently: this win is a prove that TikiTaka works, and of course, De Jong-Arthur-Alena is the way to go in the next season.
So, why bother?

I am really not interested in these crazy fights tonight. Good night guys, lol.

Nope. Said on multiple posts i don’t think Alena, Puig etc will ever be good enough for starting 11 or are the right types of players.

I’ve said a few times Arthur, De Jong CMs with Rabiot CDM or a more physical CDM.

And the reason Barca are unable to succeed with any resemblance of possesion based football is because half this team is unable to press or move off the ball. Unless you sort those issues out it will never work under any manager.

There are still other ways to play though without being overly defensive or just boring and failing.

now we're getting somewhere. I actually agree with this.

Benzema is still there and Zidane wasn't out on the field playing football. It's literally the same team minus Cristiano. So when did they cease to be a physical team and the ideal stalwart team you talked about the last three years?

Did that all fall apart when one player left?

Let's have this discussion then.

And I obviously never said, as usual you're putting words in my mouth.

So what happened to our physical workhorse team vs Roma last season? Will you even mention that or are you just going to ignore it if it doesn't suit your narrative?

Some of RM's key physical players in previous seasons were:
187 cm tall CR7
185cm tall Casemiro
185cm tall Bale
184cm tall Ramos
191cm tall Varane
185cm tall Benzema

Out of these 6 players, 3 were on a field today: Casemiro, Varane and Benzema.
With CR7, Ramos and Bale missing.

Also, RM traded CR7 for a 62kg kid Vinicius.
Or 80kg Marcelo for a 67kg kid Reguilon.

So, they lost Zidane, Cr7, a captain Ramos, a lot of height, a lot of muscles, a coach, a lucky talisman in Cr7, heading attacking options in attack (traded for Vinicius, lol).

So yes, if anyone thinks that tonight's Real is the same team which won 4 CLs, good luck with that.
So, let's just stop it here.

My point is simple: Barca are not failing because they lack physicality. They lost last season with physicality.

Real Madrid are still the same old physical team. Physicality is overrated, it is definitely important, but it doesn't start or stop with physicality as @BBZ8800 always try to push. On paper Juventus were the more physical team, but were still outplayed by Atletico.

Motivation and the right tactical setup suiting the team and the matchup is more important.

Barca need to make more big decisions when it comes to their squad and probably manager.

You realise football is not boxing right, BBZ? You grossly overestimate the importance of height in today's football. It's an advantage in some key position. Like keeper (obvious), CBs and sometimes no9, for heading ability purposes.

You'd find that most professional highly rated teams have very tall keepers, quite tall CBs, and depending on tactics, some taller no9s too.

For example, height can even be a slight downside in some positions. Like fullbacks, where you need to be fast and lighter to work that flank and have a great burst speed. Wingers are often a bit smaller and more agile too.

Navas got replaced by a much taller GK

And Reguillon is taller than Marcelo but now you suddenly mentions how much someone weighs LMAO. Your head must be as big as Jimmy Neutron with those mental gymnastics.

I do support the idea of having workhorses in the squad though. the team ideally shouldn't be built around them but they offer flexibility for certain games/situations. you need those guys who can run/press and physical guys.

They did 3 times in a row, lost best player, coach who lead them to 2cls and la liga, aged squad which gave their best and clicked in the right moment. Taking nothing from ajax, but this madrid team is done and dusted waited for this to happen, didnt think that would be ajax of all teams, but they did it

Bbz tends to take his points into extremes. If he found middle ground... it would be much more plausible.

Too bad we didn't have VAR last season. Real Madrid would have gone out to Juventus.
