Champions League

I actually think Dortmund has a decent chance against QSG. They rarely ever play strong counter attacking teams in the farmers league. Calling it now if the upset happens

So to get this straight. Everyone seems to agree that cl this year is a possibility if the lady luck shows up in upcoming draws if we manage to go past napoli. Everyone agrees that pool and city are teams to fear because of their running capacity and we have small to none chances against them. I'd add to that also a lost fear factor we used to have but thats another story.

Im not quite sure what our odds are, we would know more about that after classico because we havent played yet against a top team with fdj and griez in line up.

Fdj->anyone from last season in mf position, but lets say its even because our turtles are 1 year older

Griez-> coutinho
Griez unlike coutinho has a better workrate, he is more unpredictable and, hopefully he would have better understanding with messi and suarez, which he is showing right now. Btw, they play together for less then two months, thats encouraging also if you know that first ko games are 2 months away.

I dont know, i think that we are nowhere near our peak right now and that makes me happy, even if its under ernie.

I hope he learnt something from his mistakes, and that 352 he tried in milano was some kind of a test for away cl games.

Its going to be bumpy road, for sure!

City will have Sane and Laporte back at the beginning of Feb. Perfect for Pep who only has UCL to compete for.

Don't know why but I don't really fear city. Maybe it's the fact that we beat them and Pep before. I don't rate their defence and in attack they are not that hard working as Liverpool. They do have good players in midfield and flanks. All in all a very good team that is a bit hit and miss against big sides(in the last year at least).
And I didn't factor in the Messi element. For us, while somehow of a burden with Valverde, he is the weapon that can finish a tie.

It'll be a tough tie against Napoli for sure. Teams aren't as scared of Barca given their two previous meltdowns. I think Gattuso will emphasize that if Napoli play hard, physical football and give it their all, they could outwork Barcelona and beat them. Hardwork can close the gap against a more talented side.

And while Napoli is struggling right now, they did play well against Liverpool. We'll have to see how Gattuso does too because some Milan fans felt that he got a lot out of last year's AC Milan squad.

I agree. I do not trust Napoli, this is a team that plays very good vs big teams (Liverpool, JUve,..) and 2 day later lose vs Sassuolo.

Anyway, there are still 2 months to go, a lot of things can change. You don't have to be in shape now, but from mid-February onwards

Our most famous away win in CL arguably is the 2-0 (Messi double) against Mou's 2011 Madrid.

Madrid have an inferiority complex v us since the R10 days.

I think we'd beat them handily, CL or league.

You say that on sample size of 2 CL games in, what, 30 years?

Why are people giving examples of the Liverpool games for Napoli? Liverpool even lost vs Red Star Belgrade in the groups. They are not the same team in the groups as opposed to the knockouts.

Fuck's sake. We just knocked out Serie A leaders with the kids and now we get Serie A's 7th placed team in the CL knockouts while most of the other big teams drew each other.. We should open up a Moet.

And now they don't even have Ancelotti on the bench, but Gatusso, so they even lost the last advantage they had.

You say that on sample size of 2 CL games in, what, 30 years?

The sample size is the huge amount of times Messi teared you a new arsehole. Your defense is not equipped to deal with our attack, and you are not as energetic, as greatly managed or as physical as a Liverpool.

Nothing to do with the CL. Nor was I or QueenLeo referring to Liverpool. In which Messi hasn't played nearly as consistently well. Against us or anyone else in the knockout phase. You're able to tear Atleti apart in most Liga games while your CL record against them is abysmal.

Et tu, Wolfe?

You dunk on Barca all the time. Let me have my fun when we've legitimately bullied RM around in all competitions since R10. I can bring up the W/L and thrashings if needed. :busquets:

Bullied RM in all competitions..
How many CL games have we played since 1990, nevermind since R10?
How many Copa semis/finals have Barca won against RM?

CL semi 01/02 Real 3 - 1 Barca
CL semi 11/12 same result the other way with peak of peaks Barcelona

3-3 in Copa ties since 1990

Feeling seriously "bullied" by Barca in all competitions indeed.

How about that Liga now

:messi:

Here's the bullying:

1) 6-2
2) 5-0
3) 3-1 (2012 Bernabeu)
4) 4-3 (2014 Bernabeu when a win here would have given you Liga most likely)
5) 4-0 (2015 Bernabeu)
6) 3-2 (2017 Bernabeu when a win here would have sealed Liga that matchday)
7) 3-0 (2018 Bernabeu)
8) 5-1
9) 3-0 (2019 Copa)

That's 9 beatdowns in 10 years, mostly at your stadium. Face it, what you do to Atleti in Europe, Barca does to you.

Fuck, I can't believe Liverpool and their fans have become so arrogant.

I think Pathetico will get beat badly but PSG, Juve, Bayern and Real have a chance against Liverpool.
