Christian Eriksen

About wages, that is a huge part.
People only look at 20 or 40m paid for a transfer fee, while wages are a bigger deal.

Arthur is only at 3,5m Net per year.
Frenkie is at 12m Net.
Dembele is at 13m Net.
Coutinho was at 15-16 iirc.

That means that for 4 years we had to pay:
Arthur: 40m transfer fee, 7m gross per year for wages=68m in total for 4 years od Arthur.
Frenkie: 75m transfer+10m sign on fee+24m gross=181m for 4 years
Dembele: 145m fee+26m gross=249m for 4 years
Coutinho: 165m fee+32m gross=293m for 4 years

For Eriksen, with a 12m Net (Frenkie as a kid is earning 12m Net with 4m bonuses), we would invest:
20m fee+10m sign on fee+12m Net/24m gross
4 years in total=126m invested.

Even if we sell him in 2 years for 15m (if he flops), we would still invest 78m in two years and we would get back 15m for sale.
So, we wouldn't lose only 5-10m on him but more like 63m in two years.

People will reply: but he will return it with his displays.
But what if he fails like Coutinho, Dembele or Arda?
Then he is another 60-70m thrown down the toilet in 2 years.

BBZ the sign on fees are generally amortised over the length of the contract... we are also talking about getting him on a free in the summer.
0 transfer fee, 10-20 sign on and 24m net wages (we'll go with your numbers here just for laughs) that's 48m + 10m which is 58m in total if we were to sell after 2 years we would easily be able to offload him for at least 25m giving us a net position of -43m.

If he was to stay the 4 years he would of cost us a total of 116m; Comparatively speaking thats a 1/3 of coutinho and almost half frenkies total cost.

These calculations mean that we'll only really need to cover his wages for his services of those 2 years if he doesnt work out; having any other player will also incur a net loss so... i dont know what you are trying to highlight here.

It's gonna be a lot of money for a player who isn't that good, that's why the big clubs are wary. He'll probably go to Atletico or Inter.

Juventus paid a lot for Rabiot and he is way worse. I don't believe it. Ramsey got shitloads of money from Juve as well. I rate Eriksen higher than both of them.

Sorin, I am not against Eriksen.
I just think that:
1. He is overrated on this forum
2. Plus I tried to explain that he is not THAT cheap and "a no brainer"

He is ok, but also risky and a huge investment, as always.

** Respekt III, we were talking about signing him THIS winter, not in a summer for free.

Rabiot-Rakitic-Brozovic :worthy:

On a serious note BBZ is just being a contrarian. Just look at the Olmo and Eriksen thread as prime examples. He sees what the general sentiment is in this forum and goes against the grain.

I’m not a great fan of Eriksen but he’s a level above Rakitic and Vidal

Same here not a big fan of him and I don't think he is that good, but for the rumoured price and him (hopefully) not demanding crazy wages it would be good business. Especially with Vidal and Rakitic on the point of leaving and Busquets not being able to cope.

Never rated him in top class, not even sure he would be upgrade on Rakitic he even slightly reminds me of him. We nedd mobile, quick thinking players as we are not going for Milner's type.

If we sign him I can see it now - he will flop big time and everybody will blame it on Valverde. We have a lack of big game players and now people here want us to buy a guy who is notorious for disaappearing in big games.

Yes he has a lot of assists but HOW does he get his assists. Most of them are set pieces, crosses, long balls on to fast strikers. Not exactly our forte is it? How do you get assists at Barca - quick interplay and incisive through balls between the lines. Not his forte at all.

A complete mismatch.

But he is cheap... Unless you believe another player won't also be on decent wages? Lol

Don't be obtuse.
