The German referee Felix Brych will officiate the first leg of Barcelona’s Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester City. He presided over the first leg of last year’s Champions League quarter-final tie between Barça and Atlético (1-1), and it was the Spanish capital side who eventually up going through to the last four.

In 2012, he was in charge of the first leg of the Champions League duel between Chelsea and Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. The English side won 1-0 on that occasion and ended up progressing to the final and winning the trophy.

He was also present when Barça drew 1-1 at AC Milan in the group stage in 2012/13, while he has officiated two of their friendlies, against Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, which ended in a draw and a defeat respectively.

Tell me about it. Chelsea fans are still so butthurt over that. At least we had some class when we lost to them in 2012 and applauded our team until the end.

Funny you say that, apparently "butthurt" is bad grammar, only thing one of these muppets can say against me rofl said exactly the same thing for them to come out with Barça got slapped... smh. Chelsea... plastic & fickle.

@Barcadub - have fun! Consider me jealous, really wanted to travel & sit with the Barça fans at this game; only option was to sit with the Citeh fans on my tod =( Enjoy it & watch out for Kompany's insanely fat head!

Well that is scary. City are not your normal physical bus parking team that we face many times, so I won't worry about ref allowing too much physicality. Masch and rakitic can handle whatever muscle they throw at us.

Rakitic will be our key to success, he needs to dominate midfield and help messi and alves on the wing. If he plays well then we can definitely win the match. I have confidence in neymar to put on a good performance and Suarez might play better against an English team.

I expect city to play attacking football and the match will be an open match. Who ever moves the ball fast enough will win the match mostly and for that reason iniesta needs to play ahead of xavi despite his horrible form. Iniesta always plays good in big games. I have some hope that he will have a good match.

If y'all remember correctly, city were parking the bus the last time we met and it was almost working, they limited us to one xavi shot from outside the area while they themselves had a couple of chances one which negredo missed the goal.

In the second half they came to attack and that is when all that happened took place, i think this time pellegrini has kearnt his lesson, so dont expect an easy match

If the barca from the atletico matches shows up we'll win, if the lethargic barca from last game shows up we'll lose.

Target Kompany and you'll win. He has never quite performed in the Champions League and this season he's struggled in the PL too.

In fact Pellegrini said they'll attack so I'm not too sure if he actually learned his lesson. Doesn't strike me as a tactical genius this lad.
