In some way I think that 1-2 is a better result than 1-3. :-D
With 1-3 there is high risk of relax in the return match......and it's always dangerous.
With 1-2 there is not relax.

Brilliant first half from us where we hardly broke sweat and dominated the midfield battle. City did what I expected them to do in the second half and that was come and take the game to us. They had to.

Am I the only one that noticed that no one even moved after Messi missed the penalty and went for the header.

I knew aguero would cause serious problems. He is a quality player, there was nothing to be done for that goal. He just took all the 3 defenders with a single touch. If he is fit and running he is easily PL's best player.

Watched replay, I really don't get the meltdown about the second half. City huffed and puffed after the break as they were absolutely supposed to do, but except couple of set pieces half chances and some dangerous runs after pressing and gtting ball back Barca still was comfortable and created more. They got a goal back and you really expect that to happen in away game by English champion but I was personally satisfied with the second as well. Only thing is this penalty, oh well dat header... in retroperspect, Barca was just so much better team and it is always the best scenario when the opponent has to come to camp to chase a goal or two.

I agree. The thing is just that the result is not a fair representation of the gap in terms of class that was present on the day between the two teams. For instance hardly any neutral would have complained had the game ended 1-3 or 1-4. In such a case the tie would be practically over as well.

Barring a meltdown in the return leg the team will qualify. There can be no doubt about it. The unfortunate thing is that we have the El Clásico game 3-4 days after the return leg against City.

But City need goals unlike Celta and Malaga, and we nearly always raise our game for the big occasions. I'm not worried, in fact I'm more worried about the Copa.

For me I'm the other way around. CdR is pretty much in the bag with a 3-1 victory we have, I don't see that being turned around. The City game on the other hand is a potential nightmare; as Devils said in regards to Chelsea pulling off magic tricks, who knew.

It's key the team doesn't get over confident and goes out with the same intensity & tightens up with play.

2 1 is a nice result the best thing is city will need 2 goals at camp nou so they will be coming out to attack therefore going to leave us space to play in and with the camp nou cheering us on i cant see us not score

We won 2-1 at English champions' ground and people still aren't as content as they should be. Completely dominated them in the first half, took off the pedal in the second and honestly I have no idea why because it was probably the worst thing to do. Instead of running at them we backed off and conceded such a sissy goal. The missed penalty only gives them false hope that they can somehow get back to the game at Camp Nou but it ain't happening. No way we're gonna go 2-0 down to these sissies. I reckon we'll go 2-0 up again and it'll be somewhat similar to the last year's tie.

It was kind of fun to see how they were so confident on Bluemoon and insulted us. They could've been 4-0 down after first half and the stadium was dead silent. I even heard the El Cant del Barca while the oil money fans were in a shock 'cause they thought they'd beat Barca!

Be as positive as Bluemoon!

"It's a good job Barca eased off in the second half. We are out of this competition don't let us delude ourselves. That first half killed us.

Sorry but Pellers is gone in the summer."

It was like that the whole match. The Etihad always lacks atmosphere but the Penya lads did a great job. :barca scarf:

Gerry Francis has just said that City only need one goal to get it to extra time in the Nou Camp

The biggest mistake city made was trying to outplay Barcelona by believing their own hype and not trying to contain them....We did the same in 2011 final and were thoroughly outplayed...

Same old story.... go 2-0 up against a decent side and then stop trying for the 3rd goal, which then ends up with us conceding and giving them a chance in the return leg.

sadly yes...
Also Suarez is a beast.. Suarez>>>>>>>>>Alexis/Pedro for Barca. Perfect for what we need. Alexis and Pedro would not have scored those goals tonight.

Agreed. No doubt about it.
