Calma, calma
You can't compare CL to La Liga. ter Stegen played 1/3 of his matches against a top team and another third against a very good one. Bravo is a good GK but these stats are not representative.

I won't deny that, but my point is that there's absolutely no evidence to show that ter Stegen deserves the first choice place over Bravo at this point. Notice how I never said that Bravo is the better goalkeeper.

lel.

Bravo gets a lot of credit here and rightfully so. There are perhaps one or two posters who are a bit more reluctant, but well done in painting everyone with the same brush and terming everyone for a fanboy just because they prefer or like one keeper over the other.

If those who prefer ter Stegen are fanboys then sure as hell you guys who prefer Bravo are some utterly pathetic fanboys like us too :), because afterall, you're the ones putting everyone who got a preference under the fanboyism tag.

@Observer, maybe if you tried to post something useful instead of outright bashing other posters and making fun of them and talking about 'an agenda' like there's some CIA or Illuminati agents here waiting for the moment to poison Bravo with ricin to give ter Stegen a starting spot then it would be very appreciated.

@footyfan, I believe there's a thing called 'sample size'. Bravo has/had the luxury of playing regularly early in the season while ter Stegen had to settle for much less playing time in a new country, league, team and culture and environment. That would in most cases have a very positive impact for the one playing more, being able to settle earler and gaining the confidence of the team and the manager and besides, if stats was everything then I could pull up a few surprises for you using that Squaka comparison meter if you want.

Ah well, I reckon it's better for me to leave this thread before I'm called for 'a Bravo hater and ter Stegen lover'. :zubi:

As zanela has mentioned, nobody has called anyone a fanboy here - but can you seriously deny that ter Stegen gets a lot more praise and less hate than Bravo on this forum? Despite not deserving of that in any way. How many posts have you seen singing Bravo's praises vs ter Stegen? Almost anything positive about Bravo only comes about when some posters like me and Kerrybai defend him against random put-downs by other commenters.

So much criticism for bravo every single game he plays even when he plays good and has a clean sheet people will still complain about distribution etc not that good a sweeper as ter stegen etc. Its irritating as hell. He got 13 clean sheets in 21 games and concedded 11 goals in over 1900 minutes. His saves per game etc is also pretty high and he has saved us on a couple of occasions, malaga and valencia anyone? Whats with this fascination that ter stegen has to play all games and bravo has to get out? You should be happy that for once our goalkeepers are doing so well for our team. Bravo deserves his spot as starter in la liga because he warrants it and the results of having a good defensive record is what matters not bashing bravo just because of his age and why he is starter and not ter stegen, just be thankful that for once we have two quality keepers and this team are actually safe in their hands. Ter stegen still has many years left to be first starter in la liga but in the meantime bravo is doing a great job and thats what matters, I swear sometimes I just think its cause he is chilean that people dont rate him higher.

Bravo has done well and probably deserves his starting spot in the league. But as a Barca GK you have to play well with your feet. So far MAtS has shown to be better in that regard and no worse than Bravo in terms of shot stopping. He just needs some sustained minutes and then can be one of the worlds best GKs IMO.

Bravo has done barely anything wrong and alot of right so he should be starter at least for a couple of seasons if not this season. And its not like valdes or goodness forbid pinto was better with their distribution and playing with their feet than bravo is. I Still cringe whenever I think pinto had the ball at his feet lol. And who can forget the various blunders that valdes did, especially that di maria goal lol. Im not denying that ter stegen would be one of the best goalkeepers in the world in the future and undisputed starter in the long run but it frustrates me that some of the people here are discrediting the performances and impact bravo had so far in this team and blindly rage that he is still starting in the league despite the fact he has earned it so far.

I think the majority want fairer playing time between the two. MAtS could be our GK for 10+ years so to say that he shouldn't be given more game time for a few more seasons is stupid IMO. If that happens we would just be driving the guy away from the club.

MAtS had a couple of horrible passes out from the back recently which conveniently Barcaforum ignored.

The silly thing is with the keeper debate is that their are unknown factors which no one considers, for example can you tell me which goalkeeper communicates better with his defenders? Communication is a very important factor that everyone overlooks.

Bravo had a better season than ter stegen so far, there is no doubt in that regard. But mats got the praise for every good pass he makes while bravo rarely gets credit for what he does. Bravo looks more comfortable and his distribution is very underrated (if you forget the last game) and his shot stopping is better than mats this season. Bravo has the command of penalty box most of the time, mats still need to learn to be that comfortable in the box it will take some time to adjust to the new league and a new team. This season i don't see mats replacing bravo unless bravo decides to fuck up in the coming matches.

Bravo has done barely anything wrong

He didn't do anything wrong because apart from the Valencia game and one more away game which I forgot you could have put me in goal this season and I would have conceded the same amount of goals.

It's okay though. His communication with the backline is better for now. MAtS needs to get comfortable with the language and then get comfortable shouting at Pique and Co. Some useless clearances for a corner against Atleti by Pique where ter Stegen could have easily collected the ball but they didn't communicate.

He is world class. Easily top 5 gk in the world. If people can't see it then they are blind or mats fanboys. I love mats but bravo is clearly better than him.

Very poor display aside from a save in the first half. Imo it is time for MAtS in La Liga because he needs to play more frequently. This moment arrived.
