Clément Lenglet (loaned to Atletico)

Barça will renew Lenglet's contract for two more seasons and defer his salary by 4 years, making it €8m per season. This would allow the club to register Dani Olmo and sign a low-cost left winger. —

Same happened with Umtiti, with a termination option which we have exercised.
It is essentially pre-arrangement for terminating his contract and how is the money is going to be paid.
Most likely he is going on loan this year and contract will be terminated next summer but he will be continued to be paid until 2028.

It shouldn't be allowed to push these things to a possible future board. Bartomeu did it, now the current board are seemingly considering the same. Hopefully they don't do this with more players.

Only him and Fati are this type of deadweight.

And there is no way you can ban renewal of players.

Which on paper is a renewal, so how is it going to be "not allowed".
I mean, I get his point, but it isn't going to happen.

No player would agree to extend their contract for no more money as a renewal.

This is just a deferral.

Most likely the league will allow it and probably consider his salary was too high and impacted by covid but the league wont just allow any extension as a 'renewal'

We'll be able to judge this move after a few years. If it works like with Umtiti and helps with FFP then it ok, othervise is just kicking the can down the street.

It's very obvious with this and Gundo rumors that the panic about Olmo's registration is high.

They might if the club give guarantees that he will have the contract paid in full regardless.

This is absolutely wrong. The player needs to look into the future. Not playing a single game for a year or more is practically his career end. This way he doesn't lose any money and becomes far more attractive for other clubs to sign.
In the long run, he can lose way more money by sitting on his contract like a duck on their eggs.

Of course he will, that's what the contract is there for. If he doesn't find any club for whatever reason, Barca will pay him his money anyways. Just in 4 years and not in 2.

But he would be playing somewhere if he doesn't accept this offer. It's not like take this longer deal or go to the stands. They loan him even if he declines and I don't know why he wouldn't.
