At least Ronaldo showed up in the first games, without him they wouldnt even be playing this knockout match.

Not really, going out in the group stages is embarassing, going out in the first knockout stage is roughly on par with the potential of this Portugal side. They did what was expected, but nothing more.

His team stepped up big time, totally pinned Uruguay back and were relentless in their pressure. Bernardo Silva was absolute class.

Ronaldo was a disaster while his team actually played great. That is something you will NEVER see from Messi, not even once.
