or stay in his comfort zone

It has nothing to do with comfort zone. He loves barca and barca respects him by giving him by giving him high salary. It is a mutual admiration and no tensions like Ronaldo case. Messi will retire at barca or move to some non European country at the end of his career.

We have been in circles with that a lot lately:
1. Messi won CLs when he ahd Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alves
Without them, he can't win anymore, more or less.
2. CR7 didn't win when we had Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Alves, Messi.
Now when they are gone and when he had a good team around him, he was winning.

So, both CR7 and Messi were winning when they had a good team around them.
None of them won with crappy players around them.

Messi's advantage are La Liga trophies.
CR7 won 5 Cls (Man Utd 1, Rm4), Messi 4.
CR7 was able to win 4 out 5 during RM's golden years.
Messi won 2 out of 4, never a back to back title.
Cr7 also won Euros.

This contest wasn't even a contest 5 years ago.
Messi was a Goat then.
But in the last 5 years, Messi turned into a ghost mode in a CL (12 out of 13 last CL knockout rounds in 1/4s, semis and a final without a goal). And Cr7 won 4 out 5 CLs, plus Euros.

In terms of skills, Messi was better.
In terms of being decisive, CR7 won more big titles (Cls and Euros).
If you count La ligas as big titles, then Messi is better in terms of trophies.
CDRs shouldn't be count in any way, though.

Its a team sport and there often is a fine line between winning or losing. Atletico was just a minute away from winning a CL title but Ramos' header changed everything last second - that outcome has nothing to do with Ronaldo for example.

Your post shows whats wrong with people these days. Real Madrid won the CL not Ronaldo. Prime Barca was the best team ever (at least for me) not Messi. Portugal won Euros not Ronaldo.

Today its just goals, statistics, trophies. And then when someone retires people suddenly pretend to care how "underrated" the player was and how he should've won balon d'or etc just look at Iniesta.

LOL. Love, emotion, romance and rose-tinted glasses. So deluded.

It is his comfort zone. He has no need to move. He's not the careerist type chasing trophies and personal CV glory.

you could do without the condescension  madrid doesn't do farewells well, nothing like what barca did for xavi, iniesta or juventus for buffon anyway. that's alright, the cutthroat attitude has gotten you more success than other clubs.

Form of speech over its content? Never mate, nooo.

The farewells are nothing to do with the question that was asked originally. But Ok? Anyways... ;)

Farewells always happen naturally for those who know when to take the bow. All of the examples you gave knew exactly that their time is up. None of Madrid legends did. Raul didn't want to go, because of the same ego that kept him in the lineup for at least 4 years too long. Casillas didn't want to go and knew deep down nobody would take it very well for him as a keeper captain to be deservedly relegated to the bench. Madrid make tough decisions that end up being the right ones, whether the players want it or not.

Was Del Bosque departure after winning CL natural? Capello after winning La liga? Let s not forget the first Perez period which was a cluster fuck of bad choices.

Yes, because the 13th top scorer in Ligue would easily replace the guy that scored over a goal per game for 9 years.

Mbappe isn't even 1/8th of the player Ronaldo was for RM.

Why do you keep parroting this nonsense lol. He was playing on RW for the majority of the season with an offensive black hole in Neymar who hogs the ball like there's no tomorrow.

He's got 10 CL goals in 17 apps and 3 WC goals in 6 games in his first tournament. Even if he develops conservatively he's likely gonna have a historically high tally in both those comps. Nevermind that he has all the talent shown to explode statistically to a perennial 40+ goals a season type player. You're gonna be very bitter in a few years when he's scoring at a higher rate and proving to be the generational talent that he is.

You're comparing 2 different eras of Madrid where Florentino wasn't as astute in the sporting matters of the club and mostly thought about making profit. So no comparison. And you took the "always" out of context. They DO ALWAYS happen naturally IF a player knows his time is up and is on the same wavelength as the board. Wasn't the case with many Madrid legends.

Del Bosque sacking was a mistake. Period. Capello sacking (which wasn't Perez either) was a bit rash in retrospect, but necessary too, and if you know a thing or two about how Fabio operates, he is as responsible for the breakdown of his relationship with the fans as the club are for not trying to fix it.

It's done. Lost Zidane and Ronaldo in the same window. Greats news for barca, now we go and sign a good midfielder we can actually compete for CL. But Juve are huge contenders for CL now.

Juve have an ageing team and signing Ronaldo won't make them better than they were 2 or 3 years ago.

If Barca stop fucking around then we really should be the favorites. But EV's decision making is a huge question mark holding us back and we still have weak areas in the squad.

Also Liverpool are dark horses IMO. They looked really great last year, Salah is an X factor which makes a difference in tournament settings, and they just revamped their entire midfield from Henderson/Milner to Naby Keita/Fabinho which could be huge.

City as well if Pep stops bottling it in the CL should be big contenders.

in what world are la ligas not big titles? 6 of the 9 ligas messi has were won against CR7 and a strong real madrid side...

this isn't bundesliga or serie A.

La liga has been the top domestic league in the world for the last decade at least, ranked first by uefa and the iffhs.
I'm not getting in this debate as i'm tired of it but in La Liga Messi has been better in terms of titles, goals and assists.

CL is more prestigious but the La Liga or the PL title are just as important imo.

La liga=CL for me. But we really need to get our priorities straight. Focus on just La liga and CL and let the young players/squad players play in the Copa del Rey.
