You yourself admitted a few posts back, Cata, that Messi missing that PK killed the possibility of a comeback result. We agree about that.

When did I ever said that we couldn't comeback because Messi missed a penalty ?

CR will miss a PK at some point. It'll be very curious what you say then. Especially if it's in the CL. Apparently it's okay, acceptable, and commensurate with the status of GOAT not only to fail to make a decisive impact in important matches (for several consecutive years)--it is also acceptable, okay, and commensurate with that status to miss 1v1 PKs. Not 1v1 chances with defenders swooping in and a rushing GK--but PKs.

If there's a CL game in which at some point Juventus needs 4 goals and 0 to be scored against them and CR goes to take a penalty and misses it , I would legit not give 2 flying fucks about that since it would be irelevant.

BarcaOG I am very critical of Messi too but you are going a bit too far with your arguments. The only game I got legit furious at Messi for was Juventus 2017 and Roma 2018. Both ties you could make serious arguments as to where the hell he was and where his head was. The PSG tie he fought hard and played well, and no missing a penalty doesn't change his overall performance.

You almost burst a lung laughing at all the CR memes about the wall incident. I can only imagine you would have needed oxygen, maybe even hospitalization, if he had missed a PK as well. Sorry, but your posts here make your claim very very hard to take seriously.

He was decent vs Juve I thought. Roma and the two Atletico ties were the big disappointments imo.

You can add the Atletico ties as well for me(15/16 and 13/14 ?). Against Bayern he had a shocker last season , but even if he dropped a masterclass in that game I don't think a lot would have changed. Seeing him play like that against PSG last week was a breath of fresh air.

Messi did play really well in the second leg. He was everything I would like him to be: competitive, creative, determined. And he scored a wonder goal, too. It gave us hope.

Missing the penalty immediately after killed that hope. That is what happened. I'm sure he would say so as well--do you think Messi is indifferent about the fact that he missed the PK, as you guys are? I bet he wishes he could take it again because I'm sure he recognizes what it meant.

I'm not saying Messi had a bad game; not at all. He didn't. In the second leg Messi and Barca both were a joy to watch in fact. Unfortunately the CL is a two-legged affair and our dismal performance in the first leg (you don't lose 1-4 by playing well) must be considered too.

I totally agree!

CR7 has missed these penalties in CL:

07-08 v Barcelona CL Semi-finals
07-08 v Chelsea CL Final
11-12 v Bayern CL Semi-finals

Messi has missed the following pens in CL:

11-12 v Chelsea CL semi-finals
14-15 v City (I think he scored off the rebound but I could be wrong).
20-21 v PSG CL R of 16

Let's not act like CR7 has never missed a PK in CL and Messi can't score any high profile ones. He's scored two v Milan in QFs, v PSG in the 6-1 comeback, and even the 1st leg to name a few.

If you do then why are there discussions of you against different forum members on like 3/4 different threads. I don't think you will find many BF members disagreeing with my statement , but you seem to exaggerate Messi underwhelming performances while doing the opposite for CR7.

Edit: Personally I'm disappointed with Messi performances in the CL when the team was on the ropes the past years , but you don't find me twerking on this thread when CR7 scores against Croutons or diminishing his garbage performances against Porto.

KingLeo, I just want to remind you that I can't see the content of your posts. I realize this sounds self-important because it may well be that you are not directing your comment/post towards me at all. If that is the case, then forget this post. If you are in fact directing your comment/post towards me, though, please save yourself the trouble going forward. We don't see eye to eye and that's that.

I actually don't think I laughed at any meme regarding his incident which lost Juventus the tie.

Actually I think I didn't respond at all at any photos regarding his positioning at the wall.

Why do you put words in my mouth or acuse me of stuff I didn't do ? You said , that I said that I agree that Messi made the comeback impossible after his penalty miss or that he lost us the tie . Now you lie about me laughing histerically about some memes.

Didn't you modify a comment of KingLeo10 to put it in your signature ? One lying that he's obsessed about you or something ?

Thing is , you ( a so called Barcelona fan ) didn't waste any time and criticised Messi after he scored the only goals , one being potentially the best CL goal of this edition , complaining that he lost us the tie because of a penalty miss that would made us need 3 more goals to go through.

CR scored 0 against a weak Porto side , let himself get nutmegged and lose the tie for Juventus cause of that , for the 3rd year in a row against weak teams and you came after the game and said this :

5 CLs, more CL goals than anyone, more CL KO goals BY FAR than anyone

keep hating lads

you ain't fooling anyone here.

Only because in recent years (pre-Juve) CR had definitely overtaken Messi as a decisive, match winning force in the CL; and because there have been too many occasions in which Messi did not do the same for us. Too many. You name a few of them. For example--to name just one--he hasn't scored against Real in years. That's been very disappointing.

The split is between those, like me, who insist that Messi is not as good as he once was, and that he has not proven himself the best, far too often, in recent years; on the other hand there are the others who will not accept any criticism of Messi whatsoever, but will do cartwheels and order champagne if CR can't form a wall.
