You also don't believe that Messi is the best in the world , so why complain about him so much ? He is our only realistical weapon to win the La Liga title and you go on and on about him not scoring hattricks in CL every game so that we can win the CL title.

You don't even sound like a Barca fan at all , seriously.

Because you lot think he is. I am holding you to your standards. I.e. 'The GOAT, 6 time Balon d'Or, etc' posts---'Job Done' after we were eliminated. I think that mentality is ruinous for our club, because it amounts to putting Messi above the team's overall competitiveness. The idea that we should be happy if Leo scores/does well even as Barca sinks as a club strikes me as self-defeating.

I'm not sure what's un-Barcelona about that, lol.

Yeah , he should have played as a CB and defend against Mbapee and also substitute Mats so he can save the penalty.

That's not his job though. It's also not his fault we have Lenglet as a CB. It is his job to score goals/set up chances, though. There could be nothing more elementary than expecting your striker to score a PK; that is his job.

Would prefer Messigician trolling since I have a good laugh from that lad.

Sorry to disappoint mate, but I am not trolling. Not one bit.

If CR defended as he should have at that wall , Porto wouldn't have scored.

CR lost the tie for Juventus. He's the reason they didn't go through.

What he did or didn't do in that wall is irrelevant. He failed Juve by not doing what is his task as a striker. If Juve were eliminated 'because of him' (which is silly to say) it was because he didn't score goals. Not because he can't form a wall.

Why do you care so much if I enjoy seeing Messi score goals.

Also , what's your problem if he's the goat for me ( a BARCELONA fan , on a BARCELONA forum ) and praise his individual achievements ?

Also , once more you are triggered by those ,, let's hope " posts. Didn't you ask at one point to be included in them LMAO ?

You sound like a big troll to me because there's no way a Barca fan would make these arguments.

Nah fam , if he defended like he should have at that wall , the ball wouldn't have nutmegged him and went into the goal. The tie was at his feet but he failed hard and lost Juventus the tie.

If you think about it , CR lost Juventus the tie more than Messi.

At least Messi scored 2 in the tie but was let down by the team.

Juventus scored 4 ( all from the Chiesa dude ) but was let down by CR who lost them the tie because he didn't defend as he should have at that wall , not to mention he didn't score at all vs a mediocre Porto team.

Because I think it's really counter productive to put Messi above the club, as your 'Job Done' posts imply. This is a discussion forum after all, no?

Yeah I did, haha. Messi was playing really well then.

And--well, I'm not trolling. I know plenty of other Barca fans who agree with me (to a lesser or greater extent). And if you scroll through the history of this thread you will find that I am not the only one to point these things out. I may be the only one who points them out all at once, or insists on them, but I am certainly not unique.

I don't see it that way at all. CR is not a defender. His job is to attack, create chances, and score. Isn't it the keeper's job to set up walls also?

Again: I agree that CR failed his team. He has underdelivered for Juve in the CL. That much is certain. But I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that Juve didn't go through because of his position on that wall.

bruh you are basically blaming the PSG loss on Messi. There's 11 players on the pitch and if you think about it, 1 player has a much smaller influence on the game than in other sports like basketball. CR7 had a fantastic RM team that led him to 4 CL's and that Portugal 2016 team was composed of absolute warriors who were not pussies like our French baguettes Lenglet, Griezmann, and Dembele.

Read my previous points. That's not at all what I'm saying. I have said time and again that the elimination is also due to having Lenglet as a CB, Dembele's awful finishing, and Griezmann's non-impact.

Yes , he set the wall nicely but CR turned his back and jump making the ball nutmeg him and go into the goal. If he didn't do that , Juve goes through.

CR7 getting nutmegged for a goal and it being the winning goal for Porto - a stretch to blame CR7

Messi missing a pen after scoring our only 2 goals v PSG and us still needing 3 more even with the pen - he killed the comeback and the tie

Just dropping my 2 cents.

You yourself admitted a few posts back, Cata, that Messi missing that PK killed the possibility of a comeback result. We agree about that.

CR will miss a PK at some point. It'll be very curious what you say then. Especially if it's in the CL. Apparently it's okay, acceptable, and commensurate with the status of GOAT not only to fail to make a decisive impact in important matches (for several consecutive years)--it is also acceptable, okay, and commensurate with that status to miss 1v1 PKs. Not 1v1 chances with defenders swooping in and a rushing GK--but PKs.

By those very low standards it will be no time indeed before either Haaland or Mbappe, both of whom are less talented than CR and Messi were, to become the GOAT.
