Ronaldo went first to easier league Italy and didn't impress that much. His time with Juventue was very disappointing.

True. His Juve stint was a bust.

101 goals in 134 games isn't impressive? this literally defies logic.

He finished as league top scorer last year and took him just three seasons to take the two top spots of Juve's highest goal scorers in a single season.

Went in an easier league, at the best team. He did it hoping that he will make history and lead Juve to the CL after 20something years but he failed. On top of that, he couldn't stop Juve from losing even Serie A title.

Juve move was too ambitious for Ronaldo, he misjudged that massively.

It was a bust. What's fair is fair.

How many of those goals are penalties?

Juventus failed miserably compared to their standards during his time there.

Most of the Juve fans wanted him out. Says enough.

Let's hope Messi scores in every game and you win diddly squat.

Aren't you a Messi fan? That would be crap for him. His career became tied to PSG winning CL. If they fail, Messi fails. Almost nobody cares how he does if PSG don't get their hands on that CL title.

Their failures had nothing to do with their forward who scored a goal almost every game. Shitty management, a clueless coach, bad transfers, etc..all played a role. Look at what's happening to them right now.

From an individual point of view, Ronaldo did his thing and maintained a high level

I am a Barca fan first and foremost and i made it clear since the transfer. He s still my favourite player and wish him well on personal level, but i hate QSG and i can t support them just because Messi is there.

These star players get most of the laurels when their team wins big. It's only fair that they get most of the heat when the team sucks and doesn't deliver. Can't escape that with "maintained a high level". He lost years at Juve and wasn't anywhere near winning BD, which obviously is super-important to him. Got knocked out pretty early in CL as well, also the most important for Ronaldo. That's mission failed. He wasn't there to score goals vs Cagliari and Lecce.

He also isn't there to shoulder the blame for Pirlo's clueless management and the mediocrity of players like Bentancur, Bernardeschi, Alex Sandro etc...

I'll blame players like Ronaldo and Messi when their individual performances start falling behind their teammates. When Juve played my team (Lyon), he was literally the sole threat and scored a brace.

I hate being involved in these discussions because then people will accuse you of being a Ronaldo fan. Why are you making the penalty argument if you haven't seen his goals? You've bought into the argument before using your eyes yourself. In fact I'm pretty sure if we include non-penalty goals, Ronaldo is still outscores Lukaku for 20/21...in a shittier team.

Actually, I'm about to watch all of Juventus goals so I can contribute to this discussion.

Second goal seems easy, but it's impressive. The man is almost 37, most players are retired by then or nowhere close to their level.

Sure he is declined and IMO is nowhere near Messi these days, but he can easily score 25-30 PL goals if healthy...

Furthermore, MU looks the best they've been since 2013ish and they seem to have a lot of squad depth. Maybe they can win the PL, although City and Chelsea seem a bit stronger, mainly because they have better managers. That said, IF MU wins the PL, CR will , deservedly or not, get a LOT of praise.

Juve stint was a disappointment though,no doubt about it! Sure he had great stats, but let's not pretend that he scored 30+ goals in the Serie A of old  Guys like Higuain and Immobile have been breaking records for years  Besides, CR indeed overestimated his ability and thought he could win a CL in Turin.

Yes,between 2014 and 2018 he was clutch af a lot of times and was the main reason Real won 4 CLs, but he had a historic team behind him with WC players in all positions.

In Juventus though, not only he failed to win the CL(most of the time getting knocked out my mediocre teams  ), but also lost the Serie A for the first time in almost a decade. Both him and Juve thought that he could bring titles singlehandedly. Maybe prime CR could win the Serie A and reach the CL semis, but not old CR

Yup, just got done watching a Cr7 goal montage. I need to take a shower.

28 penalties, 73 non-penalty goals in 3 seasons.

24 non-penalty goals in big games. I'm not even counting games against top 10 teams in serie a and shit teams in the UCL, but simply UCL big games and games against Napoli/Roma/Milan/Inter/Lazio.

That's a pretty good return. And I honestly obviously also bought into the narrative a little bit over him scoring shit goals, because I was genuinely surprised at just how many of his 73 non-penalty goals are really, really good goals; majority of them are bangers and/or composed finishes. The "tap ins" are the result of his incredible movement in the box I'm not even sure how anyone can use that as a negative against a player.

People who just look at twitter don't even know how he played at Juventus. He was very often forced to go to the wings due to getting no service, and his dribbling stats were higher than those of his last 2 seasons at Madrid for that reason too. Participates in build-up much more often and effectively than people think too.

"Very disappointing", what?
The way his time at Juventus is talked about here one would think he was Torres at Chelsea or something, instead of scoring 100 goals in 3 seasons.

For sure his all-round play has declined, thats a fair criticism, but people just have to go overboard and make up stuff.
