it's so obvious they made up this so your player wouldn't be sad, and attend the ceremony. The award was created on Dec 1st! Media manipulation from madrid, ignoring Messi won best player too, making up this mvp crap was the most important award... But then again, why bother, madridistas are blind and used to corruption.

And it worked. I've seen several big mainstream papers from different countries report “CR7 chosen as best la liga player of 2012/13“ with no mentioning of Messi whatsoever. Sad, really. I can't help but hoping he'll start to flop soon.

Of course it works. In Belgium it works every week. I'm not even kidding every single week the major Belgian newspapers or sports centres report things about Spain, their sources nearly always being AS, Marca or Punto Pelota. This week I read something about Messi being mad at Barcelona because he wants to earn more money.. something that Spanish media didn't even pick up! Checked the source and BANG: AS.

And yeah: they also picked up on the Cristiano = MVP of la Liga. Luckily Courtois won best goalkeeper so that gets more attention.

I noticed this as well, incredibly frustrating. Belgian newspapers don't really pay much attention to their sources sadly.
