I semi agree with dakt, I wouldn't necessarily call him average if you took away his goal ability, because you never know kind of abilities he would have had if he wasn't a goliador, he might have gotten better in other areas such as dribbling or 1 vs 1 with his strong work ethic. You can't really call someone of Ronaldos caliber average if his goal form wouldn't be what its now though, he would still command a lot of respect based on the strong work ethic he has when his on the pitch.

But if you took his scoring instinct away he would be less special seeing that his not the worlds best at either dribbling, 1 vs 1, or as a creator. But his goal instinct right now is the best right now no doubt, and sadly goals are what people look for the most in Football, anyone in here that plays some type of Football, doesn't have to be professional, would tell you that scoring goals is not easy at all.

This discussion is pretty nonsensical. Messi is a better footballer, I think most will agree, fanboism aside. But taking away a ability to prove Messi is better? The reverse claim would be equally nonsensical. Take away any of Messi's ability and he'd also be less special. It really makes no freaking sense.

No were making a case for those people who say Ronaldo is more of a footballer than Messi and that Messi has more attributes to his game than Ronaldo, if you would take away Leos ability to score he would still be the best dribbler in the world, the best at taking players 1 vs 1 and one of the best assist man in the game. But you are right, there's no point playing this game, were just beating a dead horse. Whoever feels Ronaldo is better, feel free to I guess.

I have nothing against people who say that Messi is better than Ronaldo. I'm a Madrid fan and I know that. But when I see people saying that he is so much better and that Ronaldo is an average player I . He is better and will always be, but not that much better.

And as it was said at least 4 times by me or Flavia, you don't have to belittle ronaldo or take away any of his abilities or cut his legs in half to be able to prove Messi at his "peak" is a better footballer.

Really? Where was I "leaving out everything that does't suit mine point of view". In fact, I was trying to get the story off the stats which are holly grail for most of you.

I thought your point of viele is that Ronaldo is not the best footballer, and it sounded like your saying that he isn't even special.
The fact that he scores like crazy atm doesn't fit with that. And because you said besides his goals he's average, I came to the conclusion that you somehow don't want to see his scoring and therefore leave it out of your evaluation.

In the end I agree that stats are not everything ( of course they are not), but these numbers have to say at least something.

This never ending discussion is tiring really and leads to nothing because nobody will abandon his stand anyway..
