Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

This.

Saying the BPL is better because it is more competitive is utter bullshit. There is one team that owns all since the beginning op the BPL in '92, and that is Manchester United. Chelsea are real contenders and Arsenal had a little stint in between, but SAF's boys are the ones that rule the BPL for years now. Since 2000, more teams have won La Liga than teams have won the BPL. Says enough.

Plus, in Europe the Spanish teams are doing very well. CL as well as Europa League. Eat that, England.

Barca, Madrid and Valencia right? What other team win since 2000?

The only reason the BPL is hailed as "undoubtedly the greatest league in the world" is because it reaches a wider audience. English is a universal language therefore everyone watches the English league so that they understand it. The average BPL nut can't name 10 la liga teams. That's why they don't know that the Spanish league is pretty much just as competitive overall. Plus, la liga is taking a big upwards turn and is becoming far more competitive overall.

BPL is the best marketed league in the world. Plus the early starts BPL matches makes it a hell of a lot easier to follow their matches in Asia than it is for other leagues Even when Spain and Italy were clearly a vastly superior league, I don't quite remember having to hear or read endlessly how they were the 'greatest league in the world'. It's really incredible how often this phrase is repeated from English analysts/pundits most of whom look like more PR guys for the BPL.

The faster-paced games of the BPL makes it easier to introduce to newer fans as well but for me it's a really dumb, kick-and-rush style of football. Faster doesn't neccessarily mean better. Most of the matches are like an endless track-meet and the style of attacking is also very predictable. You hardly see much creativity or variety in the style of attack either. almost every attack is through the wings.

However, I don't agree with you that La Liga is becoming more competitive. At the moment things are good but the rate at which La Liga is failing to keep some of it's goo players, I do fear that the quality will deteriorate until the financial situation becomes better.

That first goal that Ronaldo scored against Sevilla is probably the best that I have seen him score. That strike was just a thing of beauty especially considering that it was from his weaker foot. CR has really improved his long range shooting, I remember early on in his career and in his first 2 seasons with Madrid as well, most of his long-range strikes would balloon into the stands, but he has really improved his accuracy considerably and it seems like he's asking more questions from the keeper. Even if he doesn't score, usually he forces the keeper to make a save or catch an awkward ball that bounces just in front.

He's the clearly the most dangerous in the world when it comes to long-range shooting.

Humm, have you seen his stats regarding efficiency?

Check them out. He shoots too many times, many of them in thin air. But it was a great goal. No doubt about it.

Really? He has scored much better goals...This one was great too.

He seriously has no weaker foot, just like Pedro. The power he gets with his left foot is amazing.

CL Finals with English Clubs: 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008 (2), 2007, 2006, 2005.
CL Finals with Spanish Clubs: 2011, 2009, 2006, 2002, 2001, 2000 (2)

Eight English finalists in the last decade, compared to seven from Spain. And bar 2010, every CL final since 2005 was contested by at least one English side. So, is it "Eat that, Spain?"

Europa League finals...
with English clubs since 2000: 2000, 2001, 2006, 2010
with Spanish clubs in the same period : 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007(2), 2010, 2012(2)

8 Spanish finalists in the Europa League compared to 4 from England... Overall Spain was represented 15 times in a European trophy final compared to 12 from England!!

Spanish clubs won 5 Champions League trophies since 2000 : Barcelona 3, Real Madrid 2
English clubs won 3 Champions League trophies in the same period : Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool 1 each... Not to mention one of them brought incredible shame to the trophy by getting eliminated at the first hurdle they came across defending the title!!

Spanish clubs won 5 Europa League trophies since 2000 : Atletico Madrid 2, Sevilla 2, Valencia 1
The number of times the English clubs won the Europa League trophy in the same period is a grand total of 1!!

So it is definitely "Eat that, England!!"

15 to 12, and 5 to 3. Big difference...

I dislike the EPL too but one should at least present valid arguments like yours, not fallacies like "since 2000 more Spanish teams won their league than English teams won theirs." Simply invalid, as shown by BananaRama.

Anyways, enough with the off-topic uselessness, and back to the legend that is Cristiano. United, and Rafael, are in for a serious beating.
