Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

He hasn't matured one bit. He is still the same traumatized child that grew up without a father and with inferiority complex. Last year the media campaign was on roll for him because idiotic Sepp Blatter said Messi will always be better and he decided to cry foul to media that in the end got him Ballon D'or. Plus the same media started smear campaign against Messi in wake of tax payments and dick riding Cristiano, but he's nature is showing again no doubt.

LOL do you know this for a fact? His dad actually died when he was 19 so he didn't grow up fatherless. And why would he have an inferiority complex? Messi is definitely a better player than him but from the way CR talks, I really believe in his mind he thinks he is better so I don't think he feels inferior in anyway.

I agree that there was a media campaign for him, specially designed to win the prize, but it seems that his advisors/crew etc also reccommended him to stop some antics and he really listened. And I consider that a listening of (good) advice is kind of sign of maturity . But as soon as he got his ice cream he is back at his true nature (that everybody in here suggest) or maybe those advisors are gone as well. Sad thing, really.

I was under impression that his father died when he was younger...Anyway, he has inferiority complex. And thats because Messi is definitely better player then him, and everyone around keep saying so, but in his head he is the best and he wants people to get it. When you are narcissist and you THINK you are the best, and you clearly are great player, but majority (even in your team) don't share the same opinion you get annoyed to the point of crying at being given the Ballon D'or that month ago didn't mean "jack" to you (well we know he lied about it).

Thats inferiority complex.

It's a clear penalty. Sure he's making himself look stupid and he needs to be careful because he won't get penalties in the future if he keeps at it.

Messi has more penalties than Ronaldo in the CL. And according to Kerrybai's analysis on the Messi thread here, Messi and Ronaldo statpad the same amount.

I can also nitpick stats.

25% of every goal that C.Ronaldo scores in the league is a penalty, i.e 1 in every 4 goal.
12,5%(IIRC) of every goal that Messi scores in the league is a penalty, i.e circa 1 in every 9 goal..

I didn't nitpick. I answered his question.

Would like to see an in depth comparison of his goals in the CL vs Messi's. Messi has scored a fair share of penalties too but Ronaldo seems to always get penalties and goals in meaningless matches/late in already won matches.

footyfan is a bit of a Cristiano fan. Nothing wrong with that, just gotta know your territory when arguing with him.

Cristiano has mastered the shady art of deceiving and selling minimal contact for penalties and FKs. It is beneath a player of his caliber and truly unbecoming of a player touting for the World's Best Player title, but there it is.

What's worst, for a time there, he did get past this aspect of his game for the most part. It's only in the past 2 season he has taken it back again and it's becoming an eyesore and a disturbing trend.

I think Ronaldo's constant drive for success and to be No.1 is very admirable. However, he seems to achieve that goal at all costs, throwing ethics, decency and everything else out the window trying to get there.

It is as clear as daylight that these days he does everything trying to get a goal (so perhaps the competition that we fans thought of between Messi and him is really taken seriously by Ronaldo), there is certainly the admirable part in it again, but there is also the dark side to it which is Ronaldo goes down if there is the slightest contact (or none sometimes), just to get a PK goal. As if he seeks contact in order to go down. That, is not admirable at all.

Ronaldo (Real Madrid): "Messi chants? Why would I talk about that... They should be happy to watch Real Madrid and the stars play here."

That's the thing, his dives are not even convincing. They look so unnatural and are just pathetic. I can't see how the referee falls for them ALL the time..
