Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

Everyone I know who watches football believes Messi is better, that's the way it will always be. Messi's reputation is secure, there is nothing Ronaldo can do to be considered on his level. Messi is a much better player as simple as that, just like people argue between Beatles and Stones the answer is easy, Messi = Beatles he is the best of the best and his reputation will be enhanced as time goes on.

I'm still somewhat confused if he's clueless on purpose or just, well, clueless...

if MSN shows up against Atleti, and then the semi finalist and then the finalist in UCL
and if Messi and his NT colleagues score their penalties
This talk of " CR getting the Ballon dor win or lose vs france"
wouldnt happen would it?

now how is that hard to understand? DonAK

Not necessarily,
most people think cristiano and messi are equal,i personly think that messi and ronaldo are equal,
but,i think that messi has qualities that ronaldo lacks and ronaldo has qualities that messi lacks, for example, messi has the best dribbling
in football history,no doubt about that,he can dribble the whole players on the field and score a goal,in the other hand we've got cristiano
who i think is the best goalscorer in the world and the best athlete to ever play the game.
i'm not a real madrid fan and not a barcelona fan,so i'm not blinded by hate as some people on this forum are,and i see both messi and ronaldo as equals.
again, this is my own opinion, you don't have to accept it.

You seem to have a reading comprehension accusing me of something I never once implied, learn to read.

says the guy throwing around phrases like "fact is statistics are the most important thing everyone looks at". hey, i even bolded and magnified it for you.

He's got a point though.... The stupid media never gets tired of speaking stats in football. And don't forget that it's media that plays major role in carrying a player's legacy to future generations! Especially in the modern world unlike the good old times when it was fans discussing players with their children, documentaries, etc.

Ronaldo has a huge impact on football though. A lot of young players try to copy him. In the future we will see a lot of athletic machines. The Iniesta type player will become very rare.
He also made stats very important since he cant compare to Messi as an overall player.
Ballon d'or are golden shoe 2.0 nowadays and a popularity contest. Also helped a lot by pr in this clickbait news riddem social media world. And most importantly being the ultimate example of hard work pays of and individual glory > team glory.
He overachieved big time and his legacy will be viewed as much greater than it should be.

Reading these ridiculous articles about Ken in Telegraph and Guardian makes me think these "journalists" are either:

a) Stupid, blind imbeciles (or have the hots for CR)
b) paid by a certain JM to push a certain player

best part was: "but the case for Ronaldo is that he has outlasted Messi, who has been in relative decline since 2013..." in this masterpiece.
It's A since CR played in the Premiership for 6 years. Journalists here think nothing is better than the Premiership.

The discussions are ridiculous, as always in this thread. Somebody talks about statistics, forgetting that statistics includes all the games, all the touches, all the assists, all the movements, all the goals scored, the games won, the tournaments won. Only an idiot would count the ECs and WCs somebody has won over another player to make an argument about the ability and the skills of players. With that stupid logic, any player on Argentina's world cup winning team would be better than Messi, because, in fact, Messi never won a WC?! Did you know that by using statistical and econometric methods, you can actually prove that Messi is much much better than anybody on this planet? That luck plays a bigger role on the CL, EC and WC than in league competitions? So before talking about statistics, know what statistics can do and what statistics can't do.

If you are done with the lecture on statistics.... I would like to suggest you to check how many times the media imparts all the statistical analysis of a player to the general public. It only happens occasionally! If every individual, Ballon d'Or voter, looked into the entire statistical analysis, CR7 would never, ever enjoy the kind of popularity that he does! I don't know if you have heard "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."

The word statistics that we used did not deserve your lecture, it means the same as the one in the above quote does. Your word statistics means the complete statistical analysis and the world never takes enough time to look through the complete statistical analysis. It only looks at what's the most talked one is, unfortunately in our world, number of trophies won with NTs or in CR7's case number of FKs he scored or headers or goals he scored to downplay Messi, when you actually do the complete analysis Messi has better ones as far as the FKs are concerned or goal scoring rate is concerned

Call me paranoid or whatever but Cristianos luck is insane right now, I know people don't believe in luck but in Madrid he got to play against the easiest teams possible and tip-toed to the finals, same thing happened here, Portugal basically tip-toed to a final.. Holy hell:worthy:

Seems like a cruel blow the injury, and it really is to be honest, but it will work in his favour with Ballon D'or voting and the way history will be distorted.
