Daniel Alves

He hasn't been at his best and has made some critical mistakes, but on that logic, let's get rid of Mascherano and Busquets while we're at it.

Once again, he was too narrow which led to Madrid's goal, just like against Spartak(I'm sure I spelt this wrong) and Sevilla. Seriously, Montoya in the cameos he's had is more deserving of a starting place then Alves.

He's prone to getting tucked in too much for years now. If you go back to the Inter game in 2010 (3-1) he was also tucked in too much for one of the goals. Benzema's chance (which he bottled like a boss btw ) also resulted because he played like a CB. Since he likes to play more centrally and leave his flank open, I suggest we play him as a CB permanently. After trying Adriano there today, I have hopes Tito might do the same with Alves. I'm not joking. He'd be a better CB than RB nowadays. Do it, Tito.

stupid idiot... not only left CR7 unmarked for the opener, but also few more unnecessary give-aways in the attack. Do at least one thing right idiot

The three week break would probably bring a little perspective into his mind, seeing Montoya bossing and all

Luckily he is out during international break, plus we can now safely test out Montoya. He did superb in the supercopa and yesterday he was very good as well. Let's put some pressure on Dani for his return, competition within a squad is never a bad thing :)

There are players that when they get too comfortable of a position in the starting 11 start to drift off because they think they have it in the bag, Dani Alves is one of these players, Montoya looks solid and looks like a very hard worker, so Dani Alves could be given a run for his money.

The biggest problem for me is what I perceive to be his attitude, his work ethic. If a player is giving it their all for the team, working hard to improve, etc. then I will try not to judge them too harshly. This, however, is looking more and more like a case of either boredom or some jilted-lover syndrome because he doesn't think he's appreciated enough. Either way, unless he can figure out a way to get his head on straight and stop making mistakes, he's a liability. I hate saying that, because when he's focused he's the best at what he does, but when was the last time he looked truly focused on the pitch? He certainly isn't linking up like he used to in attack, either.

Yep and I still go back to this past summer when there seemed to be some odd tension within the club wrt Alves - even at the Camp Nou to celebrate the successful season...Was he really looking to leave to PSG perhaps?...Either way, he has had one good performance this season as far as I can tell and that was the 1st leg of the Supercup against RM

Is he bored?...Is he depressed or simply out of gas?...29 which isn't old for a wingback but there's definitely a lack of sharpness in his game - thought Montoya's presence was going to light a fire under him, not put him to sleep

0 assists thus far

Lovely to see.

Although Montoya looks a little TOO happy in that first picture. I reckon he knows something we don't...
